eSUPERCROSS e AMA Camel Supercross Series: Round 8 "I just wanted to get this week over with," Lamson said. "After Swink passed me, 1 wanted to re-group. We were both struggling through the big ruts on the straights and for a while he pulled me through them. At the end 1 started relaxing and almost got him." "I knew it was going to be rough and 1 wanted to go one speed from start to finish instead of going out and going nuts and going fast," Swink said after finishing fifth. " Michael Craig took over seventh on the ninth lap and finished there, the end not coming soon enough. "It was the roughest track I've ever ra.ced on in my life," Craig said. "You can ask any rider. it was just brutal." 125cc (Above) Mike Kiedrowski notched his first-ever Camel Supercross victory. (Below) Mike Brown (54) led Doug Henry (16), Ezra Lusk (43) and Jason Edwards (121) to the first tum in the Eastern Region 125cc class. 14 Kiedrowski's mechanic Shane Nalley said. "I knew he had the field covered after practice." Though Kiedrowski was able to pass McGrath, Bradshaw wasn't, at least not immediately and he began to apply pressure from the mid-point on. But a lapped rider got in his way in the left-hand kink in front of the signalling area on the fourteenth lap, forcing him to stop and letting McGrath pull away to an uncontested second. "I hooked his handlebar going through there," Bradshaw said. "I had a pretty good drive coming up on Jeremy. [ lost a little bit of time, picked it back up, then I ran into that lapped rider and lost quite a bit of time. "I don't know, I guess 1 plateaued out there and I didn't ride as well as I wanted to," Bradshal" added, a feeling that McGrath shared. "I was a little bit out of control sometimes," McGrath said. "I can't take anything away from Mike, he was riding great. 1 did exactly what 1 wanted to do. I wanted to get the holeshot and 1 wanted to lead the race for as many laps as 1 could, then 1 wanted to pace myself and that's what 1did." Stanto'n had started well, finishing the first lap in third, but he knew there was trouble ahead. "The lin~age bolt broke when 1 did the parade lap and 1 knew something was wrong," Stanton said. "We scrambled, we didn't know if it was fixed, and it still wasn't right. 1 got a great start, but didn't want to bust myself up. It took a couple of laps to get going." Stanton had dropped to ninth before gradually working his way forward. Up to eighth on the third lap, he moved up a spot on the sixth, then into sixth on the seventh lap, and fifth on the eleventh. He would move into his eventual finishing position, fourth, with a pass of teammate Lamson on the twelfth lap. "I didn't know Stanton was back there," Lamson said. "He went by me right after crossing the starting line, on the inside, then blocking me." Lamson would fall to Suzuki's Swink a lap later, the Honda rider taking his best supercross finish ever despite nursing a shoulder injured during practice this week. The first six-lap I25cc heat race began with a couple of major crashes, the field gradually sorting itself out, and Tim Ferry taking advantage of the mayhem to make a break, though Doug Henry stuck with him. Ferry bailed off on the fourth lap after running into some hay bales, then getting the trackside banner stuck in his rear wheel, giving Henry the opportunity to breeze to the win with better than a 2Q-second cushion. Davey Yezek beat Jeff Curry for second by about half a bike length with Barry Carsten laking fourth in front of the resurgent Ferry. The second heat began with Ezra Lusk running at the front for the first three laps, but the race was red-flagged when Matt Shue crashed on the fourth lap. Shue was transported to nearby Halifax Medical Center where he was under observation with a concussion. It took Lusk a lap or two to move to the front in the re-start, John Dowd moving into second on the third lap with Brian Deegan third. That would be the order at the finish, with only Deegan getting any pressure, and that from Canadian Jean-Sebastien Roy who ended fourth. New England Cycle's Mike Treadwell and DGY Racing's Jeff Dement dominated the I25cc last chance qualifier, Dement making the pass for the lead, and win, in mid-air on the front straightaway in front of the trioval grandstands. Princeton Honda's Jimmy Eickel and Suzuki of WinstonSalem's Todd Bennick got the final two transfers. Jim's Motorcycle Sales' Mike Brown got a career start in the IS-lap 12Scc main, but he couldn't make it stick, bobbling in a right-hander while Doug Henry pounced. The race, for the win anyhow, was over and the final 14 laps became something of a line dance. Lusk took over second on the second lap and, like Henry's, his position would be solid, even though he was riding with a blown rear shock. "I blew a rear shock and it was pretty hard to ride good like that," Lusk said. "I really wanted to see what 1 could do in the sand and a long moto like this. Doug rode good. 1 congratulate him on his win. 1 think I'm nine points behind Doug and that's not too far behind." On the third lap, Ferry was into third just before a jump On the east end of the course, dropping Brown to fourth. From there he began to stretch it out and rode, mostly by himself, to third. Jeff Curry needed a few laps to get his final position, fourth, not getting there until the halfway point. Curry, who finished the second lap in twelfth, moved up in spades, jumping to sixth on the fourth lap, and up to fifth a lap la ter. On the eigh th he blew past Carsten, who would finish fifth, one better than Roy. 01 Results 250 HEAT 1: Mik. Ki.drow.ki (Kow); 2. J.ff $tonton (Hon); 3. Shoun Kalos (Yom); 4. John Dowd (Kow); 5.
