lap, it said 20th, but 1 was able to move into a pack with Damon Huffman and we both moved up fast," said Hilton. Huffman finished fourth and appeared to be fighting his factory Suzuki, which appeared to be handling poorly and down on power. "After I got behind Hilton 1 felt real squirrelly," Huffman said. Kotajarvi rounded out the top five. Rick Ryan holeshot the second moto and led for the first half of the race before Matson took control. "} was riding to win the overall, so I just waited for a while and found a good line around Ryan," said Matson. Matson rode the remaining laps without error and scored the moto and overall wins. Ryan settled into second in front of Craig Decker, who charged up from outside of the top 10 and passed Mike Metzger Ia te in the race for third. Metzger was fourth. . Huffman went over the bars early in the race and charged back for sixth behind Minnesota State Champion Cory Keeney. First-moto winner Davis was mired in the back of the pack and labored all-moto long, eventually finishing a disappointing 11th after starting in 26th place. Team Splitfire/Hot Wheels/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Chamberlain powered his way to a set of undisputed moto victories in the 250cc Pro class. Ryan led early in the first moto, but could not hold off Chamberlain. "I just waited for him to make some mistakes," Chamberlain said. Once out in front, Chamberlain pulled out a 15-second lead and went on to win. "I just relaxed and took outside lines. I don't know - it was almost too easy," said Chamberlain. Ryan finished a distant second, followed by Matson and Keeney. Decker led the early laps of the second moto with Chamberlain pushing hard in second. Decker fended off Chamberlain's charges until he washed out and fell in the back section of the course. "1 knew he was going to fall;he was kind of riding in a lot of different lines," said Chamberlain, who crossed the line well ahead of runner-up Matson. Decker regrouped for third, while Keeney posted a solid ride on his Varner-tuned Kawasaki for fourth. O'Neal-backed Jim Holley and La Habra Suzuki's Pete Murray waged an all-out war during both Vet Pro motos. Murray led the early laps of the first moto, but gave in to seeming endless pressure from Holley. Murray tried to repass, but his attempt was foiled by Holley, who rode a shrewd race. Holley eventually put time on Murray and won the moto. Murray was followed at a distance by Tim Dyer and Mike Newman. The second moto was more or less a repeat of the first, with Holley once again posting a convincing victory for the overall victory. Murray settled for second, far out of reach of Mark Lange and Dyer. Sweden's Pierre Oxelmark will return home an American champion after posting a double-moto sweep of the 12Sec Novice class and successfully clinching the series title. "1 am real nervous, r have tC1 ride consistent and finish in the top three," Oxelmark said prior to the racing. The first moto saw Oxelmark grab a tremendous holeshot in front of Chris Emerson, Nat Woods and Chris Wheeler. The battle quickly shaped up as Wheeler began to pressure the leaders, first passing Woods down a rough section of the rutted course, then jumping past Emerson over a technical double jump. Wheeler was on fire and closed to the back fender of Oxelrnark, Sweden's Pierre Oxelmark (UP) hoIeshot both 125cc Junior motos and romped off with a pair of convincing wins. but just when it seemed as if Wheeler would take the lead, tragedy struck. "I got cross-rutted and fell over in the turn. When I got up I was still in third, but my bike wouldn't start. r think it was flooded," said Wheeler. With the pressure now off, Oxelmark cruised to an easy win over Woods, Pat Foster and Emerson. Joe Ryan got the jump at the start of the second moto but was passed in the first turn by Oxelmark. Once out in front, Oxelmark extended his lead lap by lap until he held a comfortable cushion. Scott Johnson ran inside the top three early in the race but crashed in a rutted off-camber turn. Wheeler was again on the move and cut his way through the field from seventh to second by the end of the four-lap moto. Emerson was consistent for third while Woods, Fields and Joe Ryan rounded the top six. tN Results PIW BEG, 1. Bucky Gulley (Yam); 2. David Moreno (Yam); 3.Miclulel Beaver (Yam); 4.
