Though not happy with second, Bradshaw seemed satisfied. "I know that 1 could've gone faster than he did if 1 hadn't gone down," said Bradshaw. "But 1 just tried to do what 1 could." While Kiedrowski was uncontested for the overall win, Stanton's 2-4 narrowly edged Dowd's 4-3 for second overall. "I had surgery on my broken leg at the end of last year, so 1 wasn't able to ride all that much during the off-season," said New England's Dowd. "For the last few weeks, though, I've been riding almost every day down here." Lawrence was fourth overall with 3-4 finishes. "I'm really glad to be on a 250," said Lawrence, who contests the 125cc Western Regional SX Series. "It's a lot easier to ride, being as big as 1 am. I'm really happy - 1 always knew 1 had the speed to run with these guys." 125cc Craig pulled an impressive holeshot in the first 125cc moto and led Kehoe,Jf USA's Larry Ward, Suzuki's Brian Swink and McGrath. McGrath hustled on the opening lap and quickly move into second. Also coming through the pack after a so-so start was Honda's Doug Henry, who completed lap one in fifth. Ward quickly faded back into the pack, and dropped to 32nd after crashing on the drop-off. Swink's charge was cut short by a faulty ignition, and he slowed drastically before finally pulling off the track. Then in the main, in front of 44,524 screaming fans, he took a hold of the lead on the fifth lap. And he never let go. Thundering past the checkered flag to his third victory in a row in this Southem town. So congratulations Team Yamaha, and way to go Damon. Sherman would be proud. 9
