my second win in Seattle, I knew I
could keep winning, so I'm not too surprised how things have turned out.
Getting good starts have sure helped."
"From Baja to this; I would've never
thought it possible," said McGrath's
tuner Skip Norfolk, who three years ago
was turning wrenches for Kawasaki
Team Green's off-road racing team
before becoming McGrath's mechanic
on the Team Peak racing team. "It's just
unbelievable; I don't know who's happier, me or Jeremy, or Jeremy's dad probably Jeremy's dad."
"It's (winning) in his blood," said
Jack McGrath, Jeremy's proud father.
McGrath, who a week earlier at San
Diego set the record for the most consecutive wins by a rookie, is hoping to
break or at least tie Bradshaw and Rick
Johnson's record five-wins-in-a-row.
McGrath is also on pace to break
Bradshaw's single-5eason record of nine
wins, which was set last year. McGrath
is already almost halfway there with 10
rounds remaining in the 16-round
series.
For winning, McGrath collected
$5000 from the $35,000 250cc class
purse, while Bradshaw took home
$3500 for second.
In the IS-lap Eastern Regional 125cc
Supercross Series feature, DGY Racing's
Chad Pederson recorded his first win of
the season by leading from start to finish. Pederson, from Fort Dodge, Iowa,
was never challenged and took the
checkered flag approximately four seconds ahead of runner-up Doug Henry,
a factory-backed Honda rider.
Rounding out the top three after a midpack start was Team Suzuki's Ezra
e
Lusk.
Despite finishing second, Henry
maintains his series points lead over
Lusk, 64-61, while Pederson is close
behind in third with 58.
Pederson pocketed $2000 from the
$10,000 125cc class purse; Henry earned
$1000 for second.
This year's Tampa Stadium track
w as extremely tight, slick and hardpacked; blue grooves could be seen in
many places and some riders said racing on the Florida clay was like riding
on concrete. The track featured many
turns and an assortment of double,
triple and table top jumps; there
weren't any traditionally long whoop
sections, but there was a challenging
sandpit.
With his fourth consecutive victory, rookie sensation Jeremy McGrath extended his series points lead to 28.

won't admit it, but they're worried.
Very worried! And they have every
right to be, because Jeremy McGrath is
running away with this year's series.
