ally able to put a small dent in the
leader's cushion.
"I got a bad start off the gate and
started picking them off one by one,"
said Kiedrowski. "When I got in second,
I was trying my hardest to catch him
(McGrath). I wasn't holding back at all."
Kiedrowski's deficit was still substantial, though, and McGrath was riding like a well-oiled-machine, hitting the
exact same lines lap after lap. With the
race winding down, it appeared that
Kiedrowski's only hope of catching
McGrath would be if the Honda rider
were to be held up by lapped traffic.
McGrath actually did get held up a bit
by Noleen teammates Brooks and Kalos,
and Kiedrowski started to reel the
leader in, but McGrath soon got by.
Kiedrowski was also delayed by lappers
just enough to all but end his chance of
scoring his first-ever Camel Supercross
win.
McGrath cruised to the win, performing clickers over the triples on his final
lap and then began taking his victory
lap, as Kiedrowski crossed the finish
line in second place. Stanton, who
appeared to back off after falling, came
home a distant third. Craig placed
fourth after riding most of the race in
that position, followed by Swink and
Bradshaw. Like Craig, Lamson had an
uneventful race, riding all but five laps
in seventh position to tie his season-best
performance. Ward was eighth, with
Palmer also equalling his best finish of
the season in ninth, and Stephenson
rounded out the top 10.
"It's not too bad when you get the
holeshot," said McGrath. "Two years
ago I couldn't get a start to save my life,
and now I'm up there all the time."
"I'm still pretty happy," said
Kiedrowski. "There's still a lot of races
left and I can get those points back. I
didn't like the track last week, but I
came here with a better attitude:'
"I didn't feel the greatest, but I've
been sick twice before at Houston, and
still won there, so I can't say it was
that," said Bradshaw. "The track was
kind of one-lined and hard to pass on,
but it looks like they're all going to be
like that this year. I don't have any
excuses; I've just got to speed it up a little."
With Swink finishing fifth, the Coors
Ught Silver Bullet remained unclaimed
for another week, and will total $6000
next week in Tampa.
This crash in the 125cc race effectively
ended Gaddis' chances at the win.
Mike Kiedrowski (3) suffered a mediocre start in the main. Damon Bradshaw (8)
gated better, but mistakes on the first lap moved him back in the pack.

"I was trying hard and trying different lines, and I just messed up," said
Gaddis.
