At the halfway point, lenatsch had been relegated to third place when he was passed by
Riley. Meanwhile, defending Formula Two class
champion Willie Burr was taken out of the competition after he crashed in turn four. Burr was
not injured in the incidenl
At the checkered flag, Milton took an easy
victory having opened up a large gap between
himself and the rest of the pack. The battle for
second place, however, became tight near the
end of the event as lenatsch made a final challenge on Riley. Rounding turn nine for the final
lime, the two riders were side by side, but Riley
just managed to edge lenatsch out at the line to
finish second.
