PRODUCT EVALUATION ~ • • rl.'NER~ G~~. IIW~ ~ ~e£" FEBRUARY 26 TO MARCH 7 £5§ZiJii{!!J!Illfi5@ til%J§@2J?ar!l @d)I1t7@llliJ ifflfflff) §W~ SUNDAY, MARCH 7 Cyco-Active Products: Forearm Map Case erhaps the greatest thing about dual sport riding is the freedom to explore, either on two-track dirt roads, on paved roads, or both, but to do it right, you need a map. Unfortunately, most maps are big, bulky and a pain to use. Whenever you need to check the map, you have to stop, take off your gloves, dig through your pockets or fannypack, and unfold and refold until the map finally rips apart in a million pieces by the end of the day. Luckily, there's a new product on the market designed to eliminate all this grief. It's the Cyco-Active Products Forearm Map Case that straps to your left arm. It's constructed of mostly heavy-duty nylon "borders" with Velcro fasteners and a clear plastic, seven- by six-inch, "window." All you have to do is fold your map, revealing just the section where you plan to ride, ihsert it into the map case, and you never have to mess with it again. It's amazing how much a simple product can so improve your dual sport ride. Whenever you need to check the map, all you have to do is look down at your ·left forearm, and that's it. It eliminates all that fumbling around. You can even use your map while sitting at a stop light, or while riding, but we don't recommend that. Things like pine trees have a way of jumping out in front of you whenever you're not scanning ahead. We've used the Cyco-Active map case several times now, and we're extremely pleased with the product. Even in rainy or wet conditions, the map stays dry. (Ever try using a map in the rain?) The only complaint we heard was from one tester who felt that the holder was too wide for his "short" arms and would dig into his upper arm while riding. The map case must be used while wearing an "enduro" jacket. It won't work on bare arms or while wearing just a long-sleeve jersey. It'll slide all over your arm. A jacket gives the straps something to cling on,to. If you don't want to wear a jacket, you can attach the map holder to the handlebars. It seems to be well constructed; we haven't experienced any split seams or tearing, and it also comes with a twoyear warranty. The Cyco-Active Forearm Map Case is a must for anyone who owns a dual sport bike, and it retails for only $12.99. For more information, contact Cyco-Active Products: Dept.
