GMOTOCROSS Florida Winter AMA Series: Round 3 e Jim Neese (314) led Joel Dengler (75), Blane Armbruster (673), Matt Crown (91), Pat Barton (83) and Shane Slauther (715) off the line in the 12See Pro class and raced to the overall win. Tim Ferry (29) was late for the first 12Scc Pro mota after catching a plane from the Houston Supercross, but he won the 250cc class. eering/Powermist/Maxima/ AXO/ Cycle News/Tuf Racing/Pro Circuit/ Neese, Ferry dazzling at Dade Ci~ - By Mike and Anne Adair DADE CITY, FL, JAN. 16-17 im Neese and Tim Ferry turned in comeback performances to capture the 125 and 250cc Pro class wins, respectively, at the Dade City Raceway round of the Winter AMA Series. Neese suffered a terrible start and J 16 subsequent fifth-place finish in the first 125cc moto, but romped away with a wire-to-wire win aboard his Bobby Dave-tuned Kawasaki KX125 to capture the overall win in the 125cc Pro class, while Ferry turned in consistent 2-2 fin- i~hes to garner the overall win in the 250cc Pro class. Team Kayo/RRP's Ferry seemed to be running late all day at the Chariot Trailers/Hammerhead Graphics/Pro Action Suspension/Boyesen Engin- Barrs Competition/Dunlop/Scott USAsponsored event, as he missed the start of his first moto and went on to suffer poor starts throughout the day. "I raced the Houston Supercross last night and caught an early plane back here," said Ferry. "But 1 missed the start of my first 125cc moto by a few laps ." The threa t of rain hovered in the skies, but conditions were good as the first moto prepared to get under way. Unfortunately, the starting gate broke alld the first 12Scc Pro moto was flag started while Dade City Raceway's Randy Yoho fired up a welder and repaired the damage. Kenny Yoho led the way as the 125cc Pros filed through the first turn without series point leader Ferry. Joel Dengler, Kurt McMillen, Josh Latina, Damien Plotts, Brian Deegan and Jeff Curry chased after Yoho. Yoho's time in the spotlight didn't last long, however, as he crashed out of contention in the early stages of the moto. McMillen took over the lead with Dengler in hot pursuit, but all the while, Curry was blazing through the pack. Dengler overtook McMillen in a tricky section of the track, but ~njoyed the lead for only a short time. Curry closed to the rear wheel of McMillen and smoked past a few turns later, then began to reel in Dengler. The two riders engaged in a heated dice that saw Curry gain the upper hand and ride to the eventual win. "I love this sand, this is just like the tracks back home in Michigan," said Kawasaki Team Green/Tuf/Dunlop/ Scott/Renthal-backed Curry. "Dengler could pull me on the clay sections of the track, but 1had better lines on the sandy parts." "I was trying hard, but Jeff was just faster in the back section," said Dengler in agreement. McMillen held on to finish third, well ahead of Plotts and Neese, who suffered a back-of-the-pack start. Neese roared back with a vengeance in moto two, though, and led McMillen and Dengler at the drop of the gate. Ferry started the moto after missing the first gO-round, but found himself on the ground in a first-turn pileup. "Some guy slid out in front of me
