Chase Reed and Kyle Williams battled for the holeshot in the 65cc (7-11) class heat race until Reed got stuck on top of the first-turn step-up jump. Williams took over and led the field, while George pulled into second place. Ty Connor moved up to chaUnge George in a battle that lasted all the way to the last lap. ConnOl put a pass on George to secure the number-two spot as they came out of a sandy sweeper for the last time. Williams won, Connor was second and George was third. The main event was destined for another close battle when Williams barely grabbed the holeshot in front of Reed. Reed chased Williams around the course, hammering at the leader and looking for a way around. Reed crashed at the base of a tabletop jump, however, letting George and Connor slip into second place. Reed remounted and- hastily got back into the competi'tion, riding like a pack of hounds were after him. Williams crashed, which opened the door for George and Connor to fight over the lead. George grabbed the lead, while Reed worked his way around Connor for second place and took off after George. Reed closed to George's back fender, and the final lap featured an all-out battle to the checkered flag. Reed just edged ahead of George over the last section of rockers and earned the win with a photo finish, while second went to George. American Suzuki/Arlington Suzukisponsored Charley Bogard led the 85cc (14-15) class main event from start to finish. Kawasaki of Granbury /WD-40backed Chris Torrance chased Bogard off the start, but was left behind in second place. Arlington Suzuki/ PennzoiJ/PJ1-backed Jay Grimm took up the number-three spot as the remainder of the class spread out. Allen Davis and Nathan Broadbent completed. the top five overall Jonathan Leasure led the 51cc Auto Stock class to victory in front of Andrea Holbert. Holbert, who is the daughter of top Women's class competitor Nadine Holbert, kept a steady pace while she worked her way through the pack. She took an inside line through the whoops to pass two riders for second place, and held the position all the way to the check~ed flag. CN ('f') 0\ 0\ l"""'1 ...
