Robin Gingras tended to Joe Williams' motorcycle between motos. Ferry charged toward the front from midpack and finished fourth, which earned him third overall. The Vet Pro, and the Plus-25 and Plus-3D A classes shared the same strong cast of riders, such as Ross Pederson, Kevin Foley, Alan Andreu, Jon Ortner, Ricky Palmer and Gary Semics. In the first Vet Pro moto, Palmer was in the lead ahead of Jeff Stein rock, • Pederson, Andreu, Ortner and Foley, but soon it was Pederson taking over the front spot. Pederson led two laps before Andreu mounted a challenge that saw the pair swapping the lead. The checkered flag saw Pederson taking the win ahead of Andreu. Palmer, Foley and Ortner followed them across the finish line. Suzuki of Canada/Shoei/Smith/ Dunlop/NGK/TsubakilCastrol/Pro Circuit-backed Pederson said, "Andreu is a good rider. He forced me to find the best lines on the track. My arms feel like bricks." "1 knew he was tiring," Andreu said."We just tried to wait each other. outbuthewon." Andreu was the early leader in the second moto with Foley, Ortner, Pederson, Robert Handy, Palmer and Semics in pursuit. But Foley stormed past Andreu to win the moto, and Pederson then dropped Andreu to third. Pederson's second-place finish was good enough to claim the overall win. Foley, who is a Lockheed Aerospace engineer, said, "1 haven't ridden anything but a desk for three months. Look at these (bli tered) hands." Pederson also topped the Plus-25 A class, while Foley topped the Plus 30 class and Semics the Plus-35 class. In Plus-40 action, Gary Peak gave himself a birthday gift in the form of the overall win. "In the first moto I tried to pass Woody Strickland," said Peak. "1 bumped him. Steve Lewis ran into me and we both fell. Steve won the second moto. I was glad to have two seconds." An extensive amateur program saw Kawasaki-mounted Ricky Carmichael score two class wins, first topping the 85cc (12-13) class and then the Super Mini division. But it was Team Green's Kevin Windham who added the most trophies to his collection. Windham was the winner in the 125cc (12-15), 125cc B and 250cc B classes. Carmichael was coming off a knee injury suffered at.the Winter Olympics. Kevin Windham (511) swept all six motos in which he competed, posting wins in the 12Sec (12-15), 125cc B and 250cc B classes. "I did a month of physical therapy and the doc says that I have 85% strength now." Winter Olympics Champion Windham dazzled his competition, sweeping all six motos on his way to his wins. Windham shared' some of the glory: "Matt Maximoff led the first 125cc B moto, Robbie Skaggs pushed me in the 125cc (12-15) class, and Ray Mitchell gave me a good race in the final 250cc mota." Jim Neese, aboard a Barrs-prepped Team Green Kawasaki, topped the 125cc A class and Sky Racing-backed Vince DeVane rode his Yamaha to victory in the 250 / 500cc A division. CN Kevin Foley (111) led Alan Andreau (51), Scott Bishop (393) and Gary Semics to the first tum. Foley came back from a long lay-off to win the Plus 30 and Plus 35 divisions. Results 125 PRO: 1.
