Rainey_gets his first win in SD_ain _ _ D efending World Ch ampion Wayne Rainey (r ig h t) fin all y scored a 500cc Grand Prix win in 1992 as he won th e Grand P rix of Europe at th e Catalunya Circuit in Barcelona, Spain, o n May 31. Rainey and his Marlb oro Yamaha YZR500 barely topped ch a m p io ns h ip leader Mi ch ael Doohan. The Rothmans Honda rider, wh o ha s won four of the six rounds o f th e 1992 500cc Wor ld Ch ampionship Road Race Seri es, ended up o nly .057-of-a-second behind.Rainey. Third place went to the Lucky Strike Suzuki of Doug Chandler, with his Texan teammate Kevin Schwantz fourth and Rainey's teammate John Kocinski fifth.
