T he crowd was treated to a classic c h ase, ho wever , as the two stars glance d across the open land sca pe severa l times a la p to keep a chec k on the ir rela tive p ro gress. At half dis ta nce l ob e eased his pace frac tio nally in an attemp t to lull th e lead er into a sense of false secu ri ty, but Nicoll was not go ing to be foo led a nd on ly slackene d hi s pace on th e runin to the lin e.
