A fa n tastic main even t seemed to be brew in g. All ride rs were jumpy, as the main even t was restarted th ree tim es. Wh en the race fina ll y began. Menser a n ticipa ted th e start a n d go t. th e hol esh o t from th e back row. The race boi led dow n to Men ser a nd Flow ers. Flowers sho ved hi s from whee l into Men ser severa l times on the in field righ t-hander. O ne last bi t of drama came wh en they lapped J ohn Mariner , wh o was having mech ani cal p rob lems .
