Even though most o f the c lasses had a fu ll
co m p lemen t of riders, two o r th e most hot.ly
co ntes ted d ivisio n s, th e 200cc a nd Pr o-Am
clas ses, fielded on ly two rid ers each. But as
they say, it o n ly lak es two to tango.
In the 200cc clas s, for mer Macomb resid ent
a n d clu b member Steve Mason was determ ined
to win. U n fort u na tely, he fini shed seco nd .

Gurnee str uck with a last-la p dash and sto le
th e first ·place honors. Gurnee was a DNF in
th e fir st oUling, but was ab le to ride Lhe second
malO with borrowed ignition componen ts.
In 125cc Pro action, Steven Ernest got lhe
ho leshot, followed by Bond, Dickson, a nd
Craig Mason. Mason set his sights on Dickson,
but Dickso n b locked him a nd Mason cras h ed
hard. Mark Pilli o n and Alex Black well ca ugh t
a nd passed Ern est. The fin ishing o rder was
Bond, Dickson and Pill ion , wh ile a lasl-lap
pass by Gurnee put him into rourth.
Bob Walton grabbed th e h ol eshot in m OlD
two , but within three turns Gurnee a nd Mason
paSSl-d him and pulled awa y fro m lh e resl o f
the pack. Dickson and Bond passed Mason
