The time a nd the ex pense incurred with the 3000 mi le trip was "not for n o t h in g , " t han ks to Kaw as a ki ' s expa n ded support, which en courages newer , up-and-coming riders to participate in th e Qualif iers, in particular. Do n & Anne Si mone Fresn o, CA T eam Green good guy AMA Dist rict 37 held a n auction for the services of th e district 's top 12desert racers. The purpose of the a uction was to raise money for the Distri ct 37 Legal Defen se Fund. The Uni ted Enduro Associa tion won the bid for Team G reen 's Ted H u n n icu tt. O n Febru a ry 29, Ted spent th e day with th e members o f o u r cl ub . This was far in excess of th e two and on ehalf hour commitment that was specified by District 37. Additionall y, it was obvious th at Ted spe n t a lo t of tim e in preparation and th a t h e took th e co m m itmen t serious ly. H e provided us wit h suggestions o n bi ke setup, main tena nce , produc t a n d riding . T his was followed by a riding dem o nst ratio n and p ractice.
