~ PRE-ENTRY FORM race went on ," said Carr. "There were a few big holes ou t there, and the track was unpredictable. You'd hit a dry, slick spot, and go sideways." " I could hear Durelle closing in at the end, bu t I j ust held my line," said Hale. " I didn 't make the same little mis takes that I did when Chris was pushing me." DureIIe seemed satisfied with the way he rode, but was disappointed with his machine. " Man, my bike is slow," said DureIIe. " I just rebuilt it, too, and I though t it was a lot faster. I would set Mike up in the com ers, but he'd pull away from me on the straight." Juniors that failed to q ualify for the mai n event faced off in a l6-lap J unior final . ' AIIon McBee controIIed the lead in the opening lap s, but couldn't fight off the advances of Brett Landes. Landes charged past McBee and opened up a commanding seven-second lead. Landes' lead didn't last, though , as brothers Ben and Tory Bostrom recovered from mediocre starts and began to reel him in. Ben worked his way past La ndes on the seventh lap, as did T ory on lap ni ne. Landes stayed close to the Bostrom brothers, but was never able to retaliate. Ben led T oiy and Landes across the line, while McBee and Ricky Smith rounded out the top five quite a distance back. Cl'i Results QUAUFYL 'iG: 1. Chris Carr (37.2 seconds); 2. Mike Hale (37.546); 3.
