one, when he was lying in third,
came to an abrupt end with a blown
head gasket on his Ducati Panigale
V4 R. That necessitated an overnight
engine swap to a stock motor to
get on the grid for race two and will
ensure he must run the same motor
this weekend in Pittsburgh, as there's
not enough time to build up a new
race-spec motor. "We unknowingly
broke a radiator on Friday and ended
up blowing a head gasket on the race
engine. So, we had to fit a 3000-mile
stock motor, never been apart," says
Wyman. "I did 25's on it this morning,
so I knew I could do the lap time. It's
down four mph, but we could have
had two DNF's so I'm pretty happy."
THANKFULLY UNHURT
The second MotoAmerica Superbike
race was red flagged after one lap
when BMW rider Danilo Lewis suf-
fered a vicious high-side while towards
the rear of the field. It looked bad, and
he was taken away by ambulance, but
he would emerge unhurt, thankfully.
The race of the weekend
belonged to the Supersport
boys Sean Dylan Kelly (40)
and Richie Escalante (54).
Escalante, unbeaten in 2020
going into Road Atlanta, looked
like he was to maintain his
perfect season until the final
corner, when SDK pulled a
perfect block pass to take his
first win of the year. Brandon
Paasch, Kevin Olmedo and
Jason Aguilar rounded out the
top five. Escalante reversed the
result in race two and leads the
series on 145 points to Kelly's
105 and Paasch's 84.
