In bot h 125cc A class motos, Ben nick raced ' 0 th e chec kered nag well out of reach of Mike Andrews. Han k Mor ee, Jim Neese a nd Patrick Slate . Bennick also romped hom e the win ner of th e first 250cc A class rnoto , but in the seco nd o uti ng Moree. wh o was riding in his first race since he began h is co llege stud ies six months ago. grabbed the holesho t and led th e way to the chec kered flag. Rennick chase d him th rough out the race, but on th e last lap Neese passed him to Lake the ru nner-up po sitio n. Ben nic k's 1-3 score was good eno ug h for th e o verall victory . This was Nicholas's first race and even his father was surprised a t how well his ~ n performed. The 500cc A class wasn-t deci ded till th e checkered nag n ew. as Ge ne O 'Boyle and George Skalmcan trad ed , he lead back and forth.
