Helping Carr get into the winner's circle for the past five years has been h is tuner , Ken n y Tolbert. T he Texan neve r really spoke to Carr before they were paired tog et her, but in the pas t years the two have become as close as brothers. " I kn ew who he was and he knew who I was, bu t we never went ou t of o ur wa y to speak to each other," said Carr. " We' ve become rea lly good friends over the years, though, Kenny is one of the best all -around people I know. " Ken n y wants to win the Grand Na tion al Champions hip just as much., if not more than I do," added Carr . " I know he wants to have a number one plate that he earned, to hang in his garage. We've been disappointed together, but I know that our time is soo n and we'll feel the jo y together, also." " Carr dubs Tolbert as hi s clo sest male friend, but credits his longtime gir lfriend Stacey Hall as h is best friend. Stacey comes from a racing background: her la te grandfather, J ules Horky, was for a lo ng time the AMA di rector of competi tio n. "Stacey is always there for me, " said Carr. " She helps motivate me and rea lly keeps me go ing ." Carr and Hall share a house in Valley Sp rings, Ca lifornia. " I don't spe nd my money on expensive toys a nd fancy cars," said Carr. " I choose to invest in my futu re. [ own the house I live in, a nd I rent out another. " I' d pr obab ly have to say that my mos t expens ive toy is my set of go lf clu bs," added Carr, with a laugh. Along wit h his cl ubs , an assortment of di rt bikes, 600cc di rt trackers, a m inivan a nd pi ckup truck sit in Carr's garage. " I love to trail ride, so I usuall y load u p a nd go somewhere else to ri de," said Carr . When h e's not riding or racing, Carr likes to spend his time on the' go lf co urse or j ust relaxing at hom e. " Believe it or no t, I lik e to read books - spy novels," said Carr. " I also just li ke to kick back wi th Stacey a nd watch our th ree dogs race th rough the ho use," A rigid trai n ing regimen is not found in Carr's schedu le. "I'm fortu nate that I don ' t have to rea lly train," said Carr. " I' ve been blessed with na tu ral endurance, a nd [ don 't have a weight problem . Most of my training is don e when I tra il ride - wh en I rid e, I do it right! Besides, I' m not a n avi d runner."
