The FIM Management Council has a u thor ized FIM Presid e n t Jos Va e ssen and General Secretary Guy Maitre to enter th e final stages of negotiations with TWP (T wo Wh eel Promotions) and Dorn a and to sign a binding agree ment as soo n as final wordi ng and some lega l aspects of the con tract are sett led. The main issue still to be decided is the matter of IRTA's (International Racing T eam 's Association ) place in the Worl d Championship. Reportedly, the FIM does not wis h to sign a co n tract tha t spec ifica lly mak es reference to IRTA, bu t accepts the bindi ng nature of the con tra ct between TWP and IRT A, guaranteeing IRTA important powers and al so fin ancial co nditions of the racing teams. TWP and Dorna had originally planned to announce th e Grand Prix schedule on January 22 and may still be able to do so if the FIM , TWP and Dorna meeting o n January 21 is successfu l. The World Championship SuperbikeSeries will now integrate th e riders fro m the canceled championship with a consolation race being held in addition to the two World Superbike legs for all riders who don't qualify. There will also be a separa te classification for riders wh o don 't participate in the five races outside Europe - as a European Superbike Championshi p. The FIM is also discussing having a 600cc Supersport World Championship in 1993. Brainerd Interna tional Raceway will host , for the fourth stra igh t year, the U.S. ro und of the World Ch am p ionship Superbike Series o n J ';Ine 14. eRE Sturgis, Sout h Dakota, h as been changed to a 600cc National. No replacement has been announced, and the 1992 Camel Pro Seri es is now do wn to 16 races.
