H ul sen crossed th e fini sh line firs t with Sta ten , Zitterk opf, Dirks a nd Telford ro u ndi ng o u t th e top five. T he 250cc Pro race .saw 43 riders fill the start ga te to ca paci ty. Wh en th e gate dropped , Vohland and H ea ley led th e pack. Wh en the two met in the first turn, Voh land clipped H eal ey's front iire, send ing H eal ey to th e ground in front of th e e n ti re pack. H ea ley suffered a broken nose and retired for th e day. Wh en th e dust clear ed , it was AXO· backed Vohland in front , wi th Kyle Lewi s, Bobb y Moore and Huffman in chase. McG rath gated poorly a nd was lost in mid-pack , The top four riders set a blistering pace to separate them selves from th e rest o f th e field . The on ly rid er that cou ld hang with th em was Sco tt Myers. McG rat h , though, was not one to be left behind. O n lap four, McG ra th di spl aced Myers for th e fifth posit iion and proceeded to run do wn the lead ers. T h e top four riders co nti n ued to p ull away a nd wer e leading by five seconds. O n lap eig ht, McGrath ca ugh t the lead ers and joined th e freight train as · they bl azed around the track. It wasn 't until Lewis bobbled in a hai rp in turn th at Huffman cou ld ban g h is way by. After gettin g pi tched sideways in th e rut, Lewis lost h is m om en tum for th e foll o w i n g ta b le to p j u m p . Mo ore lea p ed at th e chance to pass Lew is, actually cl ip ping h is rear fender in the air as he went by. All this actio n a llowed Vo h la nd to pu ll a way by a few bike len g th s fo r so me br eathing room. Moore was the nex t rider to ma ke a mo ve when he bl ock passed Huffma n in the bow l turn in the back section o f the tr ack . On th e last lap, McGrath bl ock ed L ewis. Vo h la n d scored the win, with Mo ore, Huffman, McG rath a nd Lew is ro u n d ing o ut th e top five. When th e ga te dropp ed fo r th e second moto it was SCR rider J eff Pesta na o ut o f the ga te first. Before th e end of th e first lap , Vohland took over th e lead. Wh en th e riders came around after the fir st lap it was Vohland in firs t wi th McGrath, Moo re, Pestana a nd Phil Lawrence hot o n his fen der. Lewis was m ired in the back of th e pack. " I gated rea ll y poorl y and had nowhere to go ." said Lewis. By th e fifth l ap , the to p three rid ers had separa ted them selves from the rest o f th e field by six seconds. H uffma n was moving u p th rough the field a nd began to pressure Lawrence. H uff man was a ble to sl ip by Lawrence in the back section o f th e track, while Lewis jumped past Pestana for sixt h. Vohland held on for th e win, followed close ly by McGrath, Moore, Huffman , Lawrence a nd Lewis. The combined mot o scores ga ve th e overall to Vohland, Moore was second a nd McG rath , Huffma n and La wrence rounded ou t th e top five. In th e 80cc J unior class, it was Do ug Parsons topping th e field wi th the best co mbined mo to score. In moto on e, Parsons nabbed the holeshot a hea d of J on Raym on d , J im m y O 'Neal, Bria n Sweany and Brian Rod ri gu ez. O'Neal was th e first to make a move, bouncing a ro u nd the ou ts ide of Ra ym on d . Sweany was unabl e to hold th e pace a nd steadily slipped backw ards into th e pack. Parsons motored to the mot o win wi th O 'Neal raking in second, and Raymond, J erry Alem an a nd Rod rigu ez ro unding ou t th e top five. In the second mot o Raymo rid ra n off with the hol eshot a head o f Parso ns , Casey Ly tle , Terrance Ma lan and Rick Elrod. Eric Sch ne ll, wh o fin ish ed si xth in the first mo to, ga ted mi d -pack a nd turned the afterb urners o n . At the midway point, Sch ne ll ca ugh t th e leaders and in two more la ps snatched the lead from Ra ym o n d . Schnell carried his momentum to th e seco nd mot o win , with Raymond, Parsons, Elrod and O 'Neal foll o wing. In th e 60cc 9-1 I class , Monte Mo ntague li tera lly ran away with both motos, but was stripped of his moto win after a post-race prot est. This gave J erry Alem an th e overa ll by a seco nd moto tie-break er over Justin Bu ckelew.
