II Willy Musgrave beat a pair 01 World Championship G P compe titors to top the combined Pro class at the Racin g Enterprises Saturday MX at Car lsbad Raceway. Don al d Upton grabbed the holesh ot at the sta rt of mo to one with Dut chman Alwin Asten ru nnin g second . Musgrave. who started in mi dpa ck, slow ly wor ked his way to the lront. Up ton held his posi tion in the lead with Asten a close second and Englis h man Mervyn Anstie th ird. Up ton 's day ended early when his bike quit. At the hallway point, Asten enjoyed the lead he inherited Irom Up ton and was ju st ah ead of Anstie a nd Leig h Williams, who had pus hed his KT,M into third As the mo to neared the end, Mu sgra ve p ut on a charge and blasted past rid ers at will . Soo n Musgrave was around Williams and Ansti e, then he set ou t after Asten. Musgra ve closed in on Asten but Asten stayed out front and took. the narrow win with Musgrave a close second. _ Moto two saw Aston get the holes ho t ahead 01 Anstie a nd Musgrave . Mu sgra ve quickly passed Ansti e lor second, then he and Asten pulled away lrom the rest 01 the field, Through the mechanics comer, Musgra ve stuffed Asten an d the n steadi ly pu lled away at the rat e of almost a second a lap to score the win .
