DEC. 24 Sealord Speedway hosted its first Delaware State Su pe r Bikers Championsh ip , which was wo n by Mark Miller. The event was based on the o ld Wide World of Sports event a nd pitt ed mot ocross, roa d racer s a nd di rt trac kers against each o the r in a single cornperition, T he riders co mpeted in mot ocr oss, short trac k, IT scra mbles and di rt d rags and were scored o n their best three events . The lirs t event wasthe short trac k and at the nash of th e green ligh t, L&D Suz uki's Miller led the pack into turn one follo wed cl osely by R ic k J o h nson a nd Billy Joe Griffith. At the end of 12 lar.s the positions remai ned the same, with Mill er picking up his Iirst 01 three victo ries 01 th e day. Next up was the IT scrambles a nd th e qualifier saw Miller narrowly edge out Kene Hall for the win. In the IT feature. it was again Miller and Ha ll battl in g for the lead . Hall wou ld close u p o n Miller's rear wheel in the chica ne, wh ile Mill er would open up some room in th e short trac k sectio n . At the end 01 10 lap s, Mill er had his seco nd victory followed by R ick J ohnson. Next up was the mot ocr oss, and Hall swept both mo tos to lak e the o vera ll win. T im Bah an linished second overa ll . The final event was th e dirt drags, and Miller breezed through the two ro unds and o n to victory . After the scores were tabula ted . Miller was nam ed the Super Bikers Champion. Bar tsch 's closest com pei tio n thro ughou t th e two and a ha lf hour even t came in the fo rm of Wurs t, who trailed o nly a m inu te behind Bartsch on eac h lap. Bartsch took th o ho lesho t, but Wurst started in fifth place and closed fast. Alter just one lap Wurst had managed to move up to seco nd . Bryan Hanson and Mark Vickers closed the ga p between them selves and the leaders. Ha nson made u p a th ree min ute defici t on the last three. laps, only to place th ird a m in u te behi nd Wurst. Vickers ma tched Ha nson's lap times, but trouble at one of the five water crossings caused him to lose 3 minu te, placing him six minutes beh ind the lea der an d Iourth in th e class.
