Both models feature air/oil -co oled, two valve-per-cylinder, SOHC 900 V-twin motors with 38mm Mikuni flat-slide carbs. The 750 utilizes a five-speed gearbox, the 900 a six- speed . Cagiva claims . a top speed of 130 mph for the 750 and 136 mph for the 900. The claimed horsepower figure for both bik es is 60 hp at 8500 rpm for the 750, and 73 hp at 7000 rpm for the 900. Also featured o n th e 750 and 900 Su per Sports are flip-up gas tanks for easy access to the ai r-box, and tubular chromo ly frames. Althoug h the fram es a re nearl y ide ntica l, th ey are not in tercha ngable, The 750 has a claimed dry weigh t of 388 pounds, the 900, 404 pounds The '92 900 Super Sport features a " solo sea t" saddle cover. For so lo ridi ng , a p lastic cover wraps ar ound the passen ger section o f the sea t, giv ing it that " racy" look, and can easily be removed for two -up rid in g. Differen t tires are found on 750 and 900 models. The 750 comes stock with Dunlops and the 900 with Michelins. Suspension-wise, both bikes feature 41mm Showa inverted forks, though th e 750's fork is non-adjustable. The 900's Showa ha s extern al com pressio n and rebound damping adjustm ents. In th e back , both th e 750 and 900 use a sing le, full y adj ustable Showa shock a tt ac he d to a n alum inum swi ng arm . The 750. which comes with the half fairing, has a suggested retail price of $7350. the 900, $8295 (half fairing) arid $8490 (full fairing). Of all the '92 Ducatis, the 851 Sport is the most changed. It features all new bodywork, which is designed to better manage air flow around the engine. Internally. the 851 boasts larger di ameter valves a nd an increased co m pressio n ra tio. as well as more efficient radia tor and coo ling circuit. The valves ar e o ne millimeter larger than th ose o n the '9 1 model, the exac t same size as used in the full-race Du cati 888, wh ich has been dro pped from the 1992 line. T he 85,1 's electronic fuel-injected, fou r valves-pet- cyl in der , V - tw in ' en g i ne is claimed to produce 95 horsepower at 9000 rpm. The 851 and the 907 are the only Ducatis that feature fuel-injection. Taking care of suspension duties up front is an adjustable Showa GDOII O leod yn amic 41mm inverted fork , whi le a si n g le . full y adj us ta b le. Swedish- made Ohlin s shoc k supplies the cushion in the rea r. Li ke . all the Du catis , with th e exception of the 750 Super Sport. the 851 comes with Michel in tires. All but the 750 come eq uipped with Bremb o dual 320mm front discs with fou r-piston floa ting ca lipers. T he 750 has a sing le fro nt disc. In the rear, all th e bikes use a single. 245mm. singlepiston disc brake with fixed rotors. The 851 has a claimed dry weigh t of 445 pounds and a claimed top speed of 149 mph. It has a suggested retail pri ce of $12.500. the highest priced of the five '92 models. Subtle changes ar e ' featured on th e slig htly less racy. mor e sport touringminded Du cati 907 I.E . For 1992 it has a new and su ppos edly more comfortable sea t. larger front dis c brak e, lockin g gas cap . redesigned silencers and headl ight. and go ld-co lo red front and rear brake calipers. The 907 has a clai med dry weight of 474 pounds and a claimed top speed of 142 mph. All the models are available in either black or red, and come with a 12 month, unlimited mileage warranty.es 57
