Wosi ck and Meagh er th at went on for the first
half o f th e race. As Meagher was out front,
he was gone and \Vosick maintai ned his pace.
Meag her brou gh t it in for th e win with wosick
follow ing. Wos ick cl aimed the Vet P ro
overall, ahead of Dauth.
Reynard. went down earl y. but remounted
and set a blistering pace as he roos ted in right
behind Wosick for the moto and th e overa ll
wins in th e 125cc Intermediate class. Mayes
and Chisum were again 1-2 in the 250cc
Interm edia te clas s for th e same overalls.

Jeff Ma tiasevich motored to a set o f m oto
victories in the combi ned Pro cla ss at G .F.I.
Super Sa turday MX at Perris Raceway. It was
his firs t race since he broke hi s leg earlier in
Minneso ta in August.
" It 's my first race back , a nd Perri s gets nice
and rough. so it should be good preparation
for 1992." Matiasevich sa id p rior to racing.
Matiasevich rode with o u t equal all day long
after taki ng a pair of con vincing ho lesho ts
that event ua lly pr ope lled hi m to the o vera ll
win in bo th mOlDS. During the firs t mo w ,
Mati asevich b uilt up a 54-second lead over
1974 500cc S u pe rc ro ss Cha mpio n Gary
Sernics, who in turn held a modest adva n tage
ove r th ir d -pl ace rider Bill y J oe Merci er .
Matiasevich event ua lly ca ugh t and passed th e
en tire wave of 125cc Pro riders en route to
hi s romping of the profession al ranks.
The second mo to was a repea t for Matiasevich as he smo ked to a wire -to-wire victo ry
over Semics and Mercier. During the 125cc
Pro race, Dan a Wigg in s and Joe l Albrecht had
the bat tle o f th e day . After swapping the lead
severa l times . Albrech t finall y pushed ahead
after jumping inside Wiggi ns for the final
time duri ng the eighth lap. Alb recht finis hed
poorly in th e first moto aft er a crash dropped
him back in the field.
Pa ul Bria led the first l25cc Beginner class
moto from stall to finish with Tommy
Bonacci onl y a few feet behind him through·
ou t the molO. Dea n Van Riper rode strong
a ll mo to pass ing Ga rth Mila n for third d uri ng
th e la te stages of th e moto.
Bonacci found his way into the: lead duri ng
the second moto and opened a com fortable
lead while Bria wa s st uc k back in 17th
position. While Bonacci cruised unchallenged
up (ro nt Bria made an as tonis hi ng com eback
as he rut and diced his way towards th e: front
o f the pack. During the final laps Bria work ed
in to second aft er so me close raci n~ with
Milan, then set sail for Bona cci. Dunng the
final lap Bria reeled in Bonacci a nd set th e
sta ge for a last· lap battle for the moto and
overall victory. Bonacci remained in con tro l
lO score the win . while Bria rod e by the seat
of his pa nts in an effort to take over the lead.
