" I sure ap precia te seeing them o n a
motorcycle whe n I see all that traffic.

o ur leisure. It 's m uch better than being
trapped in a car in a ll those
fu mes."
The Dual Dogs ride fell on the best
view ing day th e ex hibit had seen. A
haze th at bl ocked visibili ty in th e
open ing days had dissipa ted and for
the first time, the length o f the valley
was in sight, .
"The u mbrellas were rea lly pretty,"
said si de -hack passenger Lucinda
Strub. " T hey were a ll just sitti ng there
lik e flowers o n the hillsid es, great big
yellow things, floatin g around read y
to take off. "

gave up his wedd in g anniversary and
the first da y of th e quail hunting
seaso n to see the u mbrell as, and spent
three days pr eparing hi s 1964 T riumph
TR6 for th e ride. "T h is is the first time
it 's been out since 1974," said Ryan.
" It's a long way to go o n a monster
like this - I'll bring something else
for th e long rid es next tim e, but it's
been gr eat. The umbrellas are terrific
and I had the time of m y life getting
there and ba ck."
