Gfl Fall MX Series: Round three
McGrath motors to
Perris MX wins
By Tony Alessi
PERRIS, CA, ocr. 20
eremy McGrath pushed his Peak!
Pro Circuit Hondas to a four-mote
sweep of the 125 and 250cc Pr o
classes during the third round of the
GFI Fall Series at Perris Raceway.
McGrath pulled the holeshot in the
first l25cc Pro moto as Mike Chamberlain, Brian Manley and Eric Hilton
filed in behind. McGrath opened a
comfortable lead and began to pace
himself out front as Manley worked
on Chamberlain for second. Manley
moved past Chamberlain on the third
lap then turned up the wick and began
to reel in McGrath.
Manley caught McGrath and began
to apply some pressure. Realizing his
pace was too slow , McGrath turned the
throttle a lillie harder and inched away
to the win while Manley posted second
in front of Chamberlain and Damon
Huffman.
Ra y Hen sley led the charge at the
start of the second moto followed by
Bubba Erickson, McGrath and Manley. Erickson moved by Hensley as did
McGrath and Manley halfway through
the first lap, then McGrath shoved
Erickson orf th e track in a fast sweeping berm. A lap later Manley moved
to second but this time McGrath didn't
let him get close for the remainder of
th e moto. Erickson and Huffman
argued over third th e entire rnoto,
which Huffman settled with a last-lap
pass.
McGrath dominated 250cc Pro class
racing with a pair of wins over
Chamberlain. Chamberlain rode close
early in both motos, but McGrath had
th e edge late in the motos as he pulled
away to complete his romp and collect
the biggest piece of the GFI 200% Pro
payback.
Mall Polosky and David Hicks had
a great battle in the first l25cc Novice
moto un til Hicks ma de a mistake.
Polosky p icked up the lead and took
it to the checkered flag and Charlie
Vice moved up from a midpack start
and charged to second by the end of
the moto in front of Lawrence Lewis
and Ray Bowers. Hicks regrouped after
hi s mishap to finish fifth .
Hicks came back very strong in the
second moto and led the race from the
drop of the gate to the checkered flag .
J

Chris Repp ran second for most of th e
race but was surprised by a hardcharging Bowers , who passed him for
second 10 feet from th e checkered flag .
Polosky looked to be a contender,
but a rear flat kept him back in fourth
in front of Joe Fern andez.
Mark White battl ed th roughout
both Vet Pro races with Randy Rodriquez. Husky-rider Rodriquez scored
th e win in the first rnoto, while White
came back on h is Nol een -backed
Kawasaki KX500 for the all-important
second moto victory af ter Rodriquez
stalled his ma chine late in the moto,
Marc Johnson had a few close
moments but fini shed th ird for the
at
day.
