They came to see their personal heros in contention and the outcome was another stunning round in a record-busting series. It proved to be a dramatic day's racing and the 500 event fielded all the big-name stars including John Kocinski and current World Champion Wayne Rainey. Eddie Lawson. Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Gardner. After a speedy but cautious start on a wet grid and with Aussie Mick Doohan in the lead. the race was stopped after 3 la ps because of rain.
