Yamaha's all-new TDM850 is a li q uid-cooled, five-valves-per-cylinder twin with long-travel suspension and it's all street! Yamaha will offer 25 models for '92, in cl ud in g th ree new mode ls : T he 600cc Seq. II a n d T DM850, stree t bikes, and the XT 225 Serow dual -purpose bike. Also bei ng offered for the first time by Yamaha . in the U.S. is a bike with an anti-lock braking system, the FJI200ABS. Perh aps the most interesting of the 1992 models is the uni q ue-loo king T DM850, a motorcycle that ma kes one ask, is it a dirt bike, a stree t bike, or both? Looking more like a Paris-to-Dakar rall y bike than anyth ing else, the TDM850 is a fu ll-£ledged stree t bike, powered by an 849cc, liquid-cool ed Y 26 Yamaha's popular sport-touring FJ1200 is basically unchanged for '92, except it 's now offered with or without an anti-lock braking system (ABS). Yamaha added another motorcycle to its dual sport line - the electric-start, four-stroke XT225 Serow. twin cylinder engine, bui lt wit h the same five-valves-per-cylinder design that powers Yam ah a' s FZRIOOO street bike. The in -li ne twin engine is surro unded by a ligh tweight Deltab ox fram e. wi th long- tra vel sus pension 6.3 inc hes up front and 5.5 in ches in the back. T he DeCarbon typ e gas /oil rear shock. whic h is mo u nted directly to the box-section swingarm, features variable-rate rebound damping and pre load adj ust ments , while the telescopic fork features 41mm stanchion tubes and a cartr idge design.
