Bleckor, Mathews motor at Washougal MX By Don Schneider 26 WASHOUGAL, WA,AUG. 30 att Bleckor and Jason Mathews swept both divisions of the 125cc Junior class at the AMA Ama teu r National, held at Washougal M National Motocross Park the two days before the Pro National. Bleckor smoked out of th e gate aboard his Rento n Kawasaki- sponsored KX, an d took a commandin g lead o f the Held of l25cc Junior division one. Chad Askew, however , ' exch an ged the lead wi th Bleckor several times. Zeb Tivnan ran a tough third behind the leaders until lap three when he took a soil sample. Tivnan remo unted in fifth , and held on until th e checkers. Justin Kirkes and Lowell Fretz capi talized on Tivnan's fall , and netted thi rd and fourth , respectivel y. Moto two saw Bleckor agai n own the start. Fretz, Rivard, He nry and . Watson rounded out the top five. Tivnan who started in eighth, mo ved up to fourth on the second circuit. Tivnan took another soil samp le wh ile trying to get by Bellmore, who had just moved by WatsOn and Henry. The big surprise was Robb Floth riding a new 1992 Honda CR125. He was involved in a first tum pi leu p, but by the moto's end had moved by 21 riders to garner fourth. Bleckor took the win over Fretz and Bellmore. . Division two in the l25cc Juniors saw Chris Kelley break out of the pack early on, fo llowed by Newhouse, Mathews, O liphant and Correra. By lap two , Mathews had blown by the two leaders and went unchallenged. Newhouse netted second, with Ol iphant holding on to a solid third. Brian Webb and Dan Mathi s slammed through tum on e in moto two. Mathews was a close third, with Sutton and Porter rounding out the top five on lap three , Mathis was ro bbed of his second place position when he slam med through the rhythm section at the top of the hi ll. Mathews, Sutton and Porter motored by Mathis on lap four , Oliphant pushed into the top five by Mathis. At th e checkers , Mathews scored the win, while Webb crashed and remounted in seventh. Sutton was second, followed by a hard charging Ol ipha nt and Porter. In moto one in the Up The Hill class, Mike Mohrbach er was challenged by Mike Rautenberg in the first turn . Braking hard, Mo h rba ch er p ushed Rautenberg wide. Howell, Johnson and Larsen all snuck by Rau tenberg at the start. Rau tenberg wicked it up early on though , and motored to third on lap one. Up front, Mohrbacher and Howell edged out Rautenberg at the flag , just up on Jo hnson and P iasna. Moto two featured another Mohrbacher and Rautenberg battle. Once again, Mohrbacher had the inside and the lead. Piasna slid in under Rautenberg for second as the trio exited tum two .
