A total of 64 entries are available for the ina ugural Pro Circuit Golf Tournament which will be held on November 4 at the T ijeras Creek Golf Course in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. There will be a $100 entry fee for each four-rnan team and th e proceeds will be donated to a local school for blind ch ildren. The top five finishing teams will receiv e cas h prizes, and other prizes will be pr esen ted courtesy of American Suzuki, AXO Sportswear, No Fear clo thi ng and Pro Circuit. Competing for six grueling da ys (Sep tember 1-7) over rugged Czecho slovak ian errain, America 's four-rider Junior Trophy T eam scored a com fortable victor y ver runner-up Holland and th e th ird -place team from Poland. ISDE riders must comp lete difficult off-road rou tes on each day of the competition ithin a rigorous tim e schedule, and are assessed penalty po ints for bein g lat e. Iso pivotal to team and indi vidua l scores are daily "special tests" wh ich ar e ces against the clock in which each rider's performan ce is judged against th e lass leader. The ISDE Junior Trophy is the second-highest National award in th e famed vent, which ori ginated in 1913. The premier team award of the event, the World rophy, was captured by Sweden : with Germany and France ranked second and th ird. The V .S. World Trophy team placed seventh in that phase of the competition. America's victorious Junior Trophy team included Steve H atch of Ithaca, New ark, on a 250cc Suzuki; J immy Lewis of Somis, California, on' a 125cc KTM ; avid Rhoades of Kent , Washington. on a 350cc four- stroke class Husaberg; and hris Smith of Stanhope, New Jersey, aboard a 250cc KTM . Hatch had the top individual score among 31 Ameri can participants in the 1991 ISDE and placed 16th in the 250cc class. Hi s teammat e Lewis placed 10th mong 125cc class riders. Meanwhile, Rhodes ranked 11th am ong under-5OOcc our-stroke class riders; and Smith placed 56th in the 250cc class. Other notable V .S. perform ers included current AMA National Enduro hampion Randy Hawkiris of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, who placed eight h in the 125cc class, and Cu rt Wilcox of Watsonvill e, California , who was 14th in the over-500cc four- stroke class . Ameri ca's only other major team victory in the ISDE came in 1973, when the U.S. hosted the event in the coun tryside surrou nding Dalton , Massachusetts, and on the Silver Vase competitio n (since replaced by th e Junior T rophy category ). Jim H olley (Yam ) topp ed D e nnis Hawthorne (Kaw) in both the 250cc and Open Pro classes at the Septemb er 7 Colorado State MX Champion sh ip s in Gr eeley. Hawthorne was the 125cc Pro class wi nner. World Champion sh ip Superbike racing could lose one of its potentia l stars if German U d o Mark succeeds in hi s . desire to ride 500cc Grands Prix in 1992. Mark may team up with noted Honda tuner Jean d'Hol lander, who is threatening to leave the World Superbike Championship if the rules are not changed to add weight to the Ducati. Mark, who is sponsored by German Yamaha distributor Mitsui, is not certain what he will ride next year if he makes the shift to GP racing.
