Considine lost the second moto to Ma rk Burkh art , who opened up a n ear ly lead and never let Co nsidine in the race for the lead. Burkhart ended up second overall with a 2-1-2 showing. For the fifth time in Loret ta Lynn 's 10 year history, Mercedes Gonz alez won the Women 's class titl e. Her 1991 champ ionsh ip pl aces her in a tie with Lisa Akin -Wagner for the most titl es ever in th e class. However, after going 2- 1- 1 in three m oto s, Gonzal ez ' a n no unced her retirem ent. " I've been coming here fo r years a nd I'v e made a lot of great friends, bu t I th ink that it 's tim e for me to move on ," said Go nza lez in the wi n ner's circle. " T he gi rls ar e gett ing faster a nd fast er each year and this wi n was the hardest. I' ve really become invo lved in off-road a uto raci ng a nd I' m going to be putting too much effort into that to come back here a nd compete." Much of Go nzalez's co mpe titio n this year came fro m Cynthia Cole, Dee Woods a nd Tiffany G reenwood. Wood ' beat Go nzalez in the first moto after Mercedes clipped a lapped ri der late in the race and was stu ck under her machine, bu t the steadier Cole ea rned runn er -u p ho n ors with her 3-2 -2 ' performance. Gree n woo d was a 4-3-6 fourth overall, af ter co mi ng from dead last to six th after a first turn fall in the fin al mot o. Joey Moore starred in the 125cc C Stock and ' Modi fied ' classes, pos ting five of six mo to win s. Brett Lee raced his Honda to second in both di visions and was the lon e ri der to beat Moore. Ma tt Day a nd Brad Simpson were th ird in the respecti ve classes. Rya n Leach was lik ewise a dom inant win ner in the 250cc C classes, showing a si mi la r five wins in the six motos. Only Alex Co x was able to get a wheel up o n Leach in th e fin al Stock moto. Randy Denby fini shed third in the Stock gro u p , as well as in th e Modi fie d cl ass. Th e number two Mod ified rider was Scott Moor e. For the first time a t Lor ett a Lynn 's history, a 28th class was run for the benefit of a select group of nonqualifiers.
