We had it geared so' it would come off the corners and I was topped out threequarters of the way down the straights. I was using the engine to slow down going in, so I could run in harder" said Ingram. ' Ted T aylor 's tim ed lap of 25.612 seconds was the fastest of th e day , but well off the record of 24.03 set by Chris Carr in 1990. Durelle was second fastest wi th a 24.751, foll owed by Aaron H ill 's 24.959 and Mike Hal e's 24.968. Dave Camlin was fifth fastest expert tu rnin g in a 24.972 lap . By the halfway mark, the lead ers had sp lit into two-rider pack s of Ingram and T aylor, Hale and Durelle , Hebb and Hill and McDonnell and Pegram.
