Bennett collects Bounty Hunter Motocross win By Tom Pritchard CHOWCHILLA, CA, JULY 2i Pa t Benn ett came fro m 1hh po sition on the lin e to win th e Bo u n ty H Unier Race in co n vi nci ng fa s h ion at t h e C howc h i l la Fairgrounds, T he Bou n ty Hunter Race ha s always been the mo st intense even t of th C' program, but th is night's race was one o f lhe stranges t of th e seaso n. Five of the 12 riders who started the 10·lap main eve nt fai led to finis h , including th e night's fastest qualifier, Ra y Crumb. Crumb had put h i. Kaw asak i in 12th p lace on the line by virt ue o f wi nning both motos in both th e 125 and 2500c Pro races. Alm o st a second a lap faster th an th e next qualifier, Crumb wa s the od ds-o n favorite to bliu 10 the front o f th e Bounty Hunter Race. From the drop o f the flag , it looked as iI Cr umb would deliv er. By ,h e second lap, Crumb had passed hall th e field , and on lap fou r had moved in to second p lace. Benn ett had also been cha rgi ng , and took the lead fro m T im \Vish ard o n the previ ous lap.
