Moran did so despile tailing o ff aft er a promising opening and finish ing third and fourth in his lasI lWO races. With fou r rid ers advancing, the U.S. finished th e meet on the same level as England. Odd-man OUI was Ri ck Mill er .. whose hopes virtuall y d isa p pea red before the interval when his first three rides netted him onl y one po int. Although Miller i mp ressed w he n he finished eighth in hi s firs t World Final on th e sa me tra ck last Sep tem ber, he neve r looked his best this time a nd col lected on ly four points fro m five rides. T atum lo pped the sco reca rd by winning four races in fine sly le, making hi s on ly slip in hi s seco nd outing wh en he started on th e ins ide ga te. He lost gro u nd in th e tight first turn and although he tri ed hard to reco ver, he co u ld not get past Todd Willshire a nd J oe 5oreen.
