Ch ristia n fou nd him self tra iling Schwartz o n the first lap , but went to th e ins ide o f Sch wa rtz o n th e back straigh t. Schwartz man aged to hold him oil into turn three. but as th ey exited four. Christian kept the throule pegged and eased into th e lead . Steve Lucero kept an eye o n Christian and tucked in behind him. When Chri sti an went by Schwartz, Lu cero foll owed his line and passed Schwaru as well . Lucero ap plied the heat to Christian and the y moved away from Schwaru and Rob ert Pfeuing. OCf two for the last time. Pfeuing elbowed Schwaru o il the pole and too k away third. As Pfeuing wa s going past. Sch waru playfully took his lelt hand o ff the bars and tried to grab Pfeuing as he went past. Lu cero pushed Ch ristian across the line while Pfeuing h u ng on lO third. with early leader Schwaru fourth. The H andicap main was going stro ng until la p five. Corning o il turn two . Christian bobbled and began to swa p and tagged Pfeui ng. Roeder spe d o il the lin e at the start o f the final . ahead o f Steve Moreh ead and Darren Erichsen. Erichse n passed Morehead a nd took ov er second. but Mo rehead struc k back quick ly. Next to pass Erichsen was Greg Sims. who slid pas t in tur n thr ee. Mean wh ile. The Open Am ateur class was relativel y easy for Deloren zo. Steve Morgan foll owed in second. quite a d istance back. Don Wanat ear ned third after George Austin DNF moto one. Austin came back in the second race and beat everyone except Delorenzo. Dean Livernois had to follow Delorenzo across th e finish in the first race of the 250cc Amateur class . J im Mailloux came out ahead in mota two and sta yed there. Delorenzo had to Collow behind in second. despite hi s best effo rts to overtake Mailloux. Delorenzo's seco nd place finish was good enough for the overall. due to Livernois's trouble plagued mot o. Liv ernoi s rini shed a distant eleven th. ruinin g hi s cha nces o f winning. Chris Coleman sto mped all come", in th e Expert classe s. Bru ce Stratton was dose in lite l 25cc clas s. but while attempting to pa ss . Co leman . he overshot a berm and fell .
