The third rou nd of the O rego n Motor cycle Road Racin g Associat ion's sp rin t race series saw visit ing racers from the previous day 's WERA endura nce race trophy in severa 1 classes . Pi ttman , Hall an d 13 other racers lined u p for the start of th e 15 lap Ope n Superbi ke fina l in the o rigi na l heat race grid orde r. At the start, H all led the field into turn one. but three turns la ter, Pitt ma n got past to take the lead. As they crosse d the li ne for the first tim e, i t was P illman fo llowed by Ha ll wi th Pinkstaff a li ttle further back in thi rd p lace. As th e leaders came off the back straight to complete the ir nimh lap . Pittman seemed to slow up. A lap later Ha ll came around in die lead and Pittman headed do wn the pit exit la ne.
