JUNE 22 Steve Banning overcame two JX>Or sta rts to win both motos of the Vet Pro class at th e Racing Enterprises Saturday MX at Carlsbad Raceway. Grabbing an early lead in moto one was ATK-mounted Ro bert Wilshire_Ridi ng in hi s first Vet Pro race . Wilshire looked impressive as he led Scot Harden up the uphill. with Banning buried among the Vet In termed ia tes. Wilshire began to stretch out a big lead, while Ban ning worked his way towards th e fro nt . Ma ny of the Intermediate riders were ab le to ru n with th e Pros in the early pan of the mo ta . but as ti me wore o n, the Pro riders bega n to pull away . Bann in g fina lly worked into second, but found himself 10 seco nds beh ind Wil sh ire. Banni ng had his work cu t out [or hi m , as he chipped aw ay at Wil shire's lead.
