K&N Racing quickly pissed Team Excel and began 10 add 10 their one lap lead. GT Racing herd off Motorcycle Doctor and Hoame Lab for third. . Wil h a comfonable lead . it appeared as though K8cN Racing had the cruise control on . bu r e n lap 58 they had a n unscheduled pit Slap with a broken shi ft linkage, The crew scrambled for spare pans. as Phil McDonald reentered the race with the bike stuck in third gear. Two laps later they re-entered the pits to tie wrap the shih lever, as it was dragging the ~ound. Team Excel was only 40 seconds behmd. When K8cN Racin g pi tted on the 64th lap 1 rep lace the shift Iinkage, Team Excel 0 inherit ed the lead. Sam McDon ald re-entered the race and bega n 10 chase the leader. PA, MAY 19 Eric Sassam an maintained hi s earl y-season hOI streak by claiming the 250cc and Open A class wins as the Flying Dutchmen held their Iirst 'IT scrambles of the season .....'hile Sassaman won the points paying events. he lost to Kevin Varnes in the "run-what-youbrung," four-lap 'Dash For Cash that ran at the comp letion of the regular races. Kevin Vames grabbed the lead from Sassama n, J oe Bro mley and Mike Vam es as the 250cc A class came OUI of the infield switchback. As they came out of the founh turn on the second lap, Sassaman slip ped under Varnes and Bromley also gal by as Varnes go t out into the loose dirt. Once in the lead. Sassaman pulled away , as the order stayed the same to the nag. Alter IW restarts for downed riders, the O Open A class got underway wit h Sassaman the leader over Mark Bur kh older. Harold Brossma n a nd Randy Shank. While Burkho lder stayed fair ly close 10 win ner Sassaman at the finis h. Shank Slipped under Brossman as they en tered the infi ela 10 capture third, J ake joh nsen held the lead as the 65cc class Came OUI of the infield wit h Benja min Miller a nd Brod y Miller behi nd. Brod y ha d led at the sta rt but fell in the infield and was several yard s behind hi. cou sin . After three laps, Brod y look over second a nd gra dually started 10 close the gap on J ohnson. As they came ou t of the final tum on the eig hth lap , J oh nson gal a little sideways and Brody shot by for the win. Jack Franklin led Chuck Blessin g, Rick Hawk and Ra ben Sassaman in the Open B final.
