World Championship 250(( MX Series: Round 2 Puzar returns to the top in Czech GP DALECIN, CZECHOSLOVAKIA, APR. 28 efending 250cc MX World Ch ampion Alessandro Puzar bounced back from a po or showing in the opening 250cc GP in Holland to dominate the Czech GP. The Italian's two-rnoto sweep lifted him to second in the point standings beh ind opening GP-winner Marniqc Bervoet s, who finished second o verall. American Trampas Parker completed the top three overall. Parker, who now resides in Ita ly, led the opening 40-minute p lus two -lap moto for the first three laps before he was passed by J ohn Van den Berk. Gert-Jan Van Doorn, wh o was earlier passed by Van den Berk for second, also got by Parker to assume secon d o nce again, then a few laps lat er he took the lead fro m Van den Berk wit h Parker foll ow in g h im th rough for ' second place. Vanden Berk , however, repassed Parker and hound ed Van Doorn for several laps. Parker then began to drop back as he was passed by Peter Johansson and Amer ican Mike H ealey, wh o had Puzar o n hi s tail. Van Doorn crac ked late in the race and dropped from first 10 fifth in o ne lap as Van den Berk ch arged past with Heal ey, J ohansson and Puzar on his tail. Over th e last four laps Puzar forced hi s way to the fro nt whe re he finished just ov er one second ah ead of Van den Berk. J ohansson hung o n to thi rd , while Bervoets, wh o was 18th at the end of lap one, fought through the pack to displace He al ey and fin ish fou rth , just tw o seco n ds beh ind J ohansson. Dave St rij bos fin ish ed sixth to sp lit Ameri cans H eal ey and Parker at the checkered flag. Pekka Vehkonen , wh o finish ed 15th in rnoto one , gra bbed th e lead wh en the second race started wi th Puzar in his shad ow. Puzar follo wed for half th e race until Vehkonen , who is sufferi ng . with a blood disorder wh ich affects his stam ina, sta rted to fade ba ck to an eventual ninth-pl ace finish. Parker worked up from a IOth-pl ace start to ass ume second with Vehkon en 's demise and charged afte r P uzar for the remainder of the moto. H is efforts came u p short as P uzar took the checkered flag two seconds ahead of Parker. Berv oets came th roug h from six th 10 fini sh th ird ahead of Healey, wh o had climbed past several riders to claim fourth.
