Resul ts INDIANAPOLIS, IN, APR7 Kurt Hall made th e trip north to fndiana whe re he fir st began road racing and made a clean sweep of th e Suzuki National Cup races he en tered at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Hall, ridin g a pa ir of T eam Hammer Suzu kis, pounded the co mpe tition in both th e A Supers tock and B Su perstock ra ces to win $1200 in Suzu ki and Dunlof conti ngencie s. Ha ll 's earning potentia in Suzuki Cup races was seriou sly jeo pa rdized earlier in th e season when his pair of Suzuki GSXRs were stolen in Georgia foll ow in g a race. Hall fin a lly got a GS XR I IOO just prior to Indy but was still without a 750. To th e rescu e ca me Jo hn Still, brother of Hall N' Still Racin g co-founder Jim Still . Still loa ned Ha ll his new Su zuki, so Hall mad e th e trip to Indy fro m his hom e in Sou th Caroli na . In the A Superstock race Ha ll quickly jumped ou t to a big lead . Steve Patterson was in seco nd holding off a big pack that incl uded Steve H eilman, Ray Yoder and TOdd Hoge, Hall to bu ilt o n hi s lead . until his margin over second was eig h t seconds a t midway th rough th e race. On lap three Yoder passed Patterson to take over second, while Andy Deatherage moved by Heilman and Hoge to gr ab fo urth o n th e next lap. Hall went o n to win the race easil y with Yoder a lonely second and Patterson third. Deatherage held on to fourth wh ile H oge held o rr Tom Wil son and Heilman for fifth. Hall had a tougher tim e in th e B Superstock . race , Smyrna, Georgia , rider Mike Reed was a surprise lead er for most of the first lap. Unfort una tely for Reed, he lost the front end of hi s Suzuki in th e so me times slick car ou sel and went down. Reed promptly hopped up and kicked hi s bike i n di sgust. Hall and Yoder we re o n ly in ches behind Reed wh en he crashed. " I saw him lose the fron t end," said Hall. " At first I th ought he hit hi s arm pretty hard and was reli eved next lap wh en I saw he was alright." . By th e halfway poi n t in th e race Hall and . Yoder had pu lled clear of earl y contender Todd Hoge. Hall , rid in g on the borrowed bike, seemed to be riding o nly hard eno ugh to sta y in front of Yoder, wh ich Hall would later say was pretty hard.
