Second molO actio n saw j ohnson steal the lead from Frank Patern o a nd sellie in lo a comfortable lead . Pat ern o was lh en hounded by Mall En gstler, wh o jumped past Palemo and began to close o n Johnson on lh e .Iast lap , Engs tler pressured j ohnson, bu t ha d to sellie for second pla~e. ' Riders of Rome season opener. Sheilds pow ered his AXO/OakleylKirksponso red Suzuki out front in th e first Schoolboy mot o, with Chris Thomas and Danny Haynes close behind. By th e midway po int of th e moto Sheilds had pulled out 10 a com fortable lead, leaving Thomas and Haynes to battle for second. Sheilds took the moto win while Thomas held on to second place. MOIO two was a different story , as Sheilds aga in pulled a clean holeshot, but stalled his mo tor in tum two . Haynes too k over the lead with Thomas at his rear wheel. Hallway through lap one, Thomas overjumped a long tabletop and threw his Yamaha away in midair. Haynes lost contro l in the next tum, a nd went down hard. Adam Humphrey inherited the lead, but Sheilds was on the move and by th e white flag lap had overtaken Humphrey. She ilds cruised to victory over Adam Humphrey, wh ile Andy Humphrey finished third. In the 125< cla ss. David Schnirer posted c a pair of consistent second pla ce fin ishes to secure the overall win. Shane Shellhorse, posted a 5-1 score to take second. llesults PIW : I. Wallace shot to the front again while jim Kapitan picked his way through the pack and seltled int o third. Wallace held the lead to the checkered nag as Kessler charged back 10 finish a close second followed by Kapitan, Peter jasuemski and jaliJ Lynch. .
