Up fro nt, privateer ChadMontero, of Ken ner, Louisiana , led Mike Brown, Doug H enry, Tallon Vohland a nd Goodman. Brown, spo nsored by Jim 's Motorcycles Sal es in Kingsport, Tennessee, and Shoei, took th e lead before th e co ncl usio n of th e first lap a nd held it until Goodman, th e winner of the seco n d heat race (J ason Lanford won th e fir st h eat race) , sn uc k by on lap four. Vohland wa s third in front of Bueh l a n d DGY's Eri c Mclear and Doug H enry, th e winner o f the 125cc National at H angtown, Asid e from Ryan Hughes, who gated eig h th, teammates Buehl and Swink were th e o n ly rid ers making headway. Buehl o vertook Brown for second, while Swink stalked Mclear and He nry before breaking into fourth .
