"The first few laps I fought traffic and
then go t going. I went down which put
me back. but they were quick falls that
didn't cost a lot of time."
Team Green's Mik e Craig logged
eig ht h overall after ru nning in the top
five for more tha n half the race. It was
hi s first Supercross race aboard a 250

Matiasevich, Kiedrowski a nd LaRocco
befor e fin ish in g a head of Suzu ki's
Denny Stephen son.
"I'm sto ked," said Craig, " I cras hed
twi ce, but I still managed to do well .
The first ti me I went do wn was whe n
Bradshaw moved over o n a lapped
rider , and that lapped ri der took me

the triples which sent me straight u p ,
I landed hard a nd the im pact kn ocked

at the end of the race a nd I just took
it from there."
.
" Fina lly, I go t a great start," said
Stephenson. " I ran top five halfwa y
until I threw it away, I ca ugh t my foo t
in a rut and jumped to the side, bu t
other than tha t th in gs went great. "
After finishing second in last week's
125cc National MX a t Gain esville,
T yson Voh la nd rode to a well -deserved
ninth overa ll. The Ca li forn ian worked
his way through the pack after a poor
star t to fin ish a hea d of New Engla nder
john Dowd.
For the second consecutive week the
Answer/Parkwa y Cycles/Scott USAbacked Do wd has been the highest
pl acin g privateer. Last week he finished fif th in the 250cc National,
log ging 6-5 mot o sco res.
" It (his performance) feels pretty
good," said Dowd. " I was way back

I got to lose?' I rod e like a nut. The

me, a nd I had go tte n the blu e flag when
I turned around and saw this gre en
bike - I thought it was Ward, but it
was Vohland. That shouldn 't have
hap pe ned."
Def e n d i n g 125cc National MX
Cha mpion G uy Cooper finished 11th.
" I fell in the first turn and rode
co nservatively ." Cooper sa id. " I kn ew
that a lot of people would fall, but I
also knew th ere was a lo t to ge tti ng
a good sta rt. I'v e never been a good
Daytona rider. My problem is that I
can 't rid e tracks that have one long,
continuous ru t."
Yama ha 's Da mon Bradsha w worked
his way up from a poor sta rt to run
with the top five riders unti l problems
pl agued the 18-year-old from North
Carol ina a nd dropped him back to
12th at the finis h.
" I felt okay," said Bradsha w. " I had
trouble getting around one pack of
guys. I had probl ems with Mike Craig
a nd they (the trac k personnel ) weren't
doing a good job with the bl ue flags.
And I guess about two la ps befor e the
fin ish I had to take my. goggles off.
After I d id that, I got hi t in the (left )
eye."
The 125cc fina l was perhaps the best
race of the day. Grayson Goodman ,
Eri c McL ear . Bria n Swin k and j ero my
Buehl battled for the lead before Swi nk
co llected the wi n over Buehl a nd
McLear.
" I got a good start a nd the n fell ,"
said Swink. " I followed McL ear for a
short tim e and th en got the lead aga in .
Actually. it (th e race) went better than
I expected."
" I fell down and by. the time I go t

" I got the holeshot and Goodman

T eam Green 's Ryan Hughes suffered a terrible blow to his cha m p ionshp hopes. Normally a top five rider ,
he cra shed severa l times in his heat race
and the Last Cha nce Qua lifi er a nd
