He scored 23 points, with 59 seconds in . th e tie breakers. Hough had so me problems getting going in th e third loo p. He said he got late and stayed late . When Bertram start ed catch ing him, he pi cked up hi s pa ce, fini shing with 23 points and 85 seconds in th e . tie breakers. Gravitt's bike worked well for him, " . . . if only I co uld ha ve held onto it," Gravitt said. He did, however, hold on long eno ug h to drop j ust 24 points, earn ing him sixth overa ll. The rest of th e top 10 fini shers were filled wi th A-class rid ers. Pepper fini shed seventh with 26 points. At 34 poin ts, Lambert won the 250cc A class in eighth overa ll. In the same class was Canadian Blai r Sharp less wh o' fin ished ninth o vera ll. There was a three-way tie for 10th . Dan Nielsen won th e tie breaker at 38 points, 75 seconds. Mesecher had 85 seconds, while Matt Cullins had 106. Cullins won the Vet class. Lewis, who was having a su per third loo p, got knocked out of the race with mechanical difficulties with on ly two checks to go . Hawkins ' survived the enduro bu t dropped 44 points. J aso n Ingersoll nabbed a firs t pl ace in the 200cc A class with 49 .points. He had a good rid e, but tir ed out in the fina l loo p. H is goggles fogged up, but he didn 't bum any checks and was very pl eased with his finish . He was surprised that Kawasaki's Kenny Pa rry didn 't beat him o u t of first p lace in the class. Parry, competing in his first major enduro, finished with 66 points for second place in the class . Kawasaki's communication ca pe r caused a major stir of excitement for the da y. Roeseler and Ho ug h were seen leaving gas one with rad io transceivers taped to the back of th eir helmets, complete with anten nas and wires (AMA rules spec ifically stat e that radi o co m m u nica tio n is no t a ll o wed in en d u ro co m p etitio n ). An official protest was received by the referee at the end of the even t. When the situ ation was ins pected after the race, it was found th at the ra d io boxes were actually em pty cardboard boxes, one of which con tained a chocola te chip cookie. As it turned out, realizing that the real com m un icatio n system the Kawasaki rid ers were testing on Saturday was receiving a lo t of attention, the Kawasaki clan decided to ha ve a little fun during th e race and provide some added entertainm ent to th e c:N event.
