J eff Stanton prevent ed a clean sweep by Bayle when he won th e main even t on the fin al day. Stanton fini sh ed third in the other mains for second overall. .. Jeff Ward was leading Saiurday's main event by a large margin when he was forced to release his bike in midair. Ward finished second on the first and last days. The Paris Supercross is one big show for the spectators. There are elaborate opening ceremonies as well as cheerleaders supporting the French riders. 'of Greg Albertyn (left) topped Stefan Everts ,(2) and Rob Herring in the first 125cc main ; Everts won the last two days to earn the Prince of Bercy crown over Albertyn. o Kiedrowski and Cooper was plain to see, though Bayle still won his heat after taking the holesh ot , Dubach was forced into the L CQ, wh ich he led all the way, bu t the race was controversial. Eckenbac h had battled .h is way to second in th e L CQ, bu t wit h two laps remai ni ng he crashed going into th e tu nnel and land ed unconsciou s in th e middle of the nar row trac k. Alt houg h he 'was able to walk away a few m inutes later, th e red wa s correc tly shown so that the medi cal staff coul d reach h im . Dubach and hi s chase rs ignor ed th e red £lag to comp lete the fu ll distance. . Offi cial s argu ed with Dubach , wh o then stormed off angrily wi tho u t a penalty. However , th e offici als chose to penalize Vehko nen for a block pass on . Frenchman Yannig Kervel la , which ' ma ny experts felt was a perfectly fair move . Vehkon en was disq ual ified a fter fin ish ing second at the red £lag, bu t he wou ld n' t have q ua lified anyway. 'Second went to Eckenbach since the results after a red £lag are fro m th e previous lap. T he. German was too shaken to compe te, so on ly 12 riders went to the line for the main , Ward grabbed the ho leshot at the start of the main , wh ile Bayle too k seco nd from Cooper through the whoops. Coo per quickly dove back u nder the Fren chman when Bayle . mad e an un su ccessfu l .a tterrr p t to swoop past Ward at the entrance to the tunnel. It took Bayle two laps to find an o ther way around Cooper, wh o immediately shot off the trac k in the wh oops. But by this time Ward ha d a big lead , while Stanton was looking for a way past Dub ach as h e mo ved up fro m a seven th -place start. At the halfway po int everything ' happened. Ward was throw n off lin e approachi ng 'the tri p le and im media tely let hi s Kawasa ki go while he was still going up. " As soon as I took off I knew I was headed for a landin g in the hay bales, so I let it go, " said War d, who mad e a perfect landin g on h is feet from hi gh up in the air. Stanton, who was o n Bayle's rear wheel, go t crossed up over a jump and slithered to the ground on the back side of it, Dubach had to go aro und him and Bayle was clear , . Kervella fell in front of BayIe in the tunnel as he was being lapped which let Dubach ca tch up. Kiedrowski pulled over as he was lapped and Bayle scored win number three. After chas ing Dub ach hard, Demaria lost it in the wh oo ps and another fall gave th ird back to Stanton, , For the first time the I 25cc class had to p lay the sidesho w. Antunez led for most of the race. but both he and H errin g, wh o had mad e a first- lap surge from midpack, had to submit to Everts before the finis h.
