5th Annual Christmas Savings Sale! Sunday Bayle had no difficulty winning th e first heat on Sunday, and Ward was always just ahead of Stan ton in heat two . Everts pushed Bradshaw all th e way in , hea t three, while Albertyn defeated Johnson inthe fourth heat. The rea l action once again began in the semis. J ochen Jasinski led away in the firs t semi but was down to third when he crashed out. Bayle had taken 'Co m mand and went on to win 'wi th .J o hn so n a clear seco nd. Alb ertyn ssed Van den Berk near the halfway p'oint and held on to third at th e finish. Evert sen grabbed the final transfer sition behind Vehkonen aft er Tragr and another rider fell in th e whoops. Determined to score at least one win on his 18th birthday, Everts stormed to the front of semi two. Two laps later he masted to the side of the track with carburetion problems and let Ward through for a dear win as Bradshaw and Stanton had to come through the pack. Stan ton had a mighty due l with Warren Edwards before both pass ed a tired Colin Dugmore near the end. Strijbos had -cra shed while running third a t half distance and Geb oer s had crashed ear lier when not in a strong position to qualify. Everts rode calmly to win the Last hance Qualifier, while Tragter once gain made the main through the jumping contest. . . Van ' den Berk lept to th e front of the final as Vehkonen, Edw ards and Dugmore went down in the first turn. Bradshaw joined them at th e back when he fell alone two corners later: While Van den Berk enjoyed hi s br ief mom ent o f glory, J ohnson, Stan to n and Ward disputed second as Bayle took no risk s dem oting Albert yn and Evensen to set off in pursuit. :Jl Ward's effort to sp lit the two Honda s ahead of him ended when he cras hed at the end of the whoops, but not before he had sho t past Stanton. Ward's fall cost Stanton con tact with seco nd-place Johnson for a time. , IIBy the tim e Johnson caught Van den Berk just before th e halfway point, Stant on was back o n hi s rear fender wi th Bayle close behind. The two Americans sho t under Van den Berk .i n the sam e turn, while with Bayle, i t; took a coup le of laps longer to demote the Dutchman, which cost him any chance of the win. n Bayle closed up to Stanton at one point, but could never get clos e enoug h to put his front wheel inside. At the same time, Johnson made better use oftraffic to get awa y for the win. J1,After racing through from an l l thplace start, Everts just failed to get Van den Berk for fourth . ] ust a few seconds laier was an almost identical scene as E d wards came even closer to nipping Evertsen for sixth.
