Rowe a t the start of the 360cc fina l a nd put
severa l length s o n th e o thers as th ey go t
slig h tly ta ngled up. Rowe took o ut Maj eski
o n th e fourth lap, but Maj eski regrou ped and
a Iew laps lat er returned the lavor , but he had
trouble ge tti ng by a lapped rid er. Once Whi te
was free, he sta rted to slice into Burkholder's
lead in th e lat e laps, but fin ished seco nd, just
a length back.
Ferris jetted int o th e lead at th e star t of th e
250cc Pro main, in front of Bob Sweeten, Lew
Woods and Paul Crumlin~. Farris never
looked back and scored th e wm. Bob Sweeten
fin ished seco nd which put him into th e clas s
po ints lead.
Todd Win sen was awarded the wi n in th e
previous week 's 80cc main which had been
protested .

Ro und on e of th e 1990-91 Hare-Scrambles
Series was held in Cad iz, wi th Pennsylvania 's
Duane Conner taking overall in the Pro cla ss.
There were 211 riders in attendance to rid e
th e six-m ile wooded co urse owned by T on y
Mit chell who himself raced th e AMA Nati onal
Hare Scrambles Series up to 1988.
The Pro cla ss was loaded with top names
such as Kawasaki's Conner and Terry Cunningham. ATK's Tony Hendon, Pro mOIOcro ssers Mike Morris, J eff Austin and Scan
Martin.
At th e end of lap o ne Kentucky's Morris
led th e field through th e scori ng barrels
follow ed by Au stin and Conner. The next lap
saw H end on move into th e lead , foll owed by
Morris a nd Cunningham. After three laps,
Hend on a nd Conner swa p ped leads but by
the finish it was Conner by a bike len gth win
o ver Hend on. Cunningham cap tured th ird
and Morri s was fourth.

After having the Yamaha he and T ay lor White
sha red di sintegrate the week before, Rod ney
Farris and White came up with a very Quick
Honda tha t ena bled Farris to dom in ate th e
midway race of the Cockeysvill e Optimist
Club/ Baltimore County Trail Riders sponsored ind oor short tra ck series at the
T im onium Fairgrounds. Farris had a perfect
evening o n the M. Lynch Transportation!
Taylor White Racing-sponsored ride, setting
fast tim e of the night, winning his heat and
sem i, taking the Dash For Cash, and toppin g
th e eveni ng off with an easy win in the 250cc
Pro final. Not to be outdone, the recently
slimmed down White a lso took th e 250cc final.
J erry Al ex ander had breezed hi s wa y
th rough th e 80cc class ta king his heat and
sem i on h is Koup's Cycles Kawasaki , and was
a lmost handed the final wh en hi s main
co mpe ti tors went down in a three-rider tan gle
a t the start, Todd Win sen was up Quickl y and
into a di stant third behind Alexander and
Mike McKee. However, while running aw ay
with the race , Alexander co llided with a
lapped rider late in the race, and McKee al so
joined th e pil e, giv ing th e win to Win setl .
Brett Friedel jumped into th e lead at the
sta rt of th e 125cc race, closel y foll owed by
Rob ert Miller, Todd Stith and Ken Yoder.
Miller sli p ped under Friedel as they entered
th e th ird turn on lap three. Stith trted to get
under Friedel for second a few laps lat er, but
ran over Friedel's foot, causing hi s fro m whee l
to go away. He bounced ri~ ht up, but Yoder
had slip ped into thi rd behmd winner Miller
and ru n ner-up Fried el.

Hawthorne hot at Riverside SX

Dennis Hawthorn e mad e his trip fro m T exas
10 Georgia wort hwhile as th e took ho me the
largest chunk of the $5000 Pro class p urse at
the Georgia Sta te Outdoor Supercross Dou blehead er held at the R iverside Supercross
track.
Qualifi ers too k place all night long on
Saturday for either ga te position o r to adva nce
to th e main events, which were held Sunday.
The l25cc Pr o main event got underway
with Sea n Dukes jumping o u t to an early lead
followed by Chad Montero. Dukes a nd
Montero started pulling a little distance on
H awthorne. Ryan Reynolds a nd Rick Li ndell.
Montero sta rted houndin g Dukes for the. lead
o n th e sixth lap, whi le Hank Mor ee was
slici ng his way through tra ffic a fter star ting
near las t, Montero made hi s move through
th e rock ers and took the lead from Duk es on
th e ninth lap and cr uised o n to win follo wed
by Dukes, Hawthorne, Moree and Reynolds .
The 250cc Pro main saw Hawthorne grab
th e early lead with Montero second over
Du kes. Kevin Walker and Moree . The field
sta yed th e same for th e first few laps, then
Montero slo wly closed o n Hawth o rne until
he got off hard in th e rockers. With Montero
si de li ne d, Dukes went i nto secon d with
Walker clo sing. Walker too k odd lines tryi ng
to find a wa y around Dukes, then on the 11th
lap Wa lker snuck under Dukes in a turn just
before a set of doubles. Walker then charged
after Hawthorne, but Ha wthorne rode Flawlessly 10 capture the wi n. Wa lker held on to
seco nd over Dukes.
The Seni or Mini class provided plenty of
action whe n Danny Haynes followed race
leader Patrick Hizel aro und for the first few
· Ia ps i n moto one. Ha ynes closed o n Hizel,
but H izel kn ew a ll the ho t lines and used the m
superbly. Wh ile Hizel and H aynes ba nled,
th ey didn't see the hard -ch arging Damy n
Swanpoel inc hi ng up from beh in d. With a
few la ps remaining H ayn es too k the lead , bu t
with two laps to go he went down in the
rock ers and Hizel reclaimed the lead . Swanpoel cha rged after H izel a nd p ulled up
alongside on the last lap. As they raced for
th e lead Swan poel came out ahead of H izel
an d th ey fin ished that way. J ason Benton .
Keith Bailey and Ma n Mel ton rounded out
th e top five.
