of the MX Northwest Series a t Woodland:
In the first 250cc Pro race, Steffy pulled th e
h ol es ho t w i th T own Ce n te r Yamah a Kawasaki-backed Terry Hamn ess in his roost.
Dun lap, Bisceglia and Sweeten rounded o ut
the top five.
O ut of th e woods o n ,lap one saw Steffy
trailing Hamness in the lead. Bisceglia twist ed
it on past Du nlap through th e S turn s on la p
two for third. Soon a fter Dennis Sweeten
swif tly mo tored by Dunlap through the
wh oo ps for fourth.
At the start of lap three, Steffy made an
aggressive move by outpowering an d o utbreaking Ha mn ess dow n the lon g back straight for
th e lead. Wicking it u p , Steffy would never
be contested again. By lap seven .Don Bisceglia
reeled in Hamness. But his hard charge came
up short; as he settled for third at the checkers.
Sweeten and Dunlap held on to th eir respective
pos itio ns th ro ughout the mo to.
In mOL O two Hamness look the ear ly lead .
Ste ffy , Bis ceglia , Sweeten a n d Du n lap
rounded out th e field. Lap two ; Steffy was
pressuring Ha mness aro und the pit when
H amn ess washed ou t in the silt. Steffy a nd
Biscegl ia took quick adva ntage of the sit uation. Sweete n and Du n lap also advanced by
th e downed rider.
T he o rder remained the sam e to the finish ·
with Steffy o ut lasting Bisceg lia 's charges.
Sweeten, Dunlap and Hamness retai ned their
pos itio ns to th e finish .
T he 125cc Pros saw Jeff Da ily a nd Chad
Berry take the ear ly lead . Steffy, Wari ng ,
Radcliffe and Wh ipple rounded out the top
six. At th e end of lap two Steffy had wicked
it u p, flyin g by Berry a nd coming out of th e
woods ahead of Dail y:
Waring also was o n the gas . By lap four
he got by Berry and Dail y for second. U p fro n t,
Steffy had moved up 15 seconds o n ·Waring
and Da ily by la p seven. Sha rdelman, who
sta r ted. th e mo to in seven th, had moved in
behi nd Dail y by the wh ite flail' Hal f way
th rough the last lap , Steffy's bik e began to
run sour. Waring, Dail y, ShardeIma n and four
o ther riders go t pas t by mote 's end. ; :
Moto two , Daily grabbed a nother holesh o t
with Steffy in h is shadow . Waring, Wh ipple
and Radcliffe rounded o ut th e top five.
Coming out of the woods on lap o ne, Steffy
ha d man euvered by Daily again, for th e lead.

Kawasaki-mou nted Shawn McDonald made
the most of his recen t mo ve to th e J un ior class
b y taki ng co n vi nci n g wins in both the
co mbined 2500c Novice/J un ior motos to score
th e o vera ll victory ' at Chico 's Cycle la nd
Speedway.

It was Ri ch Bol eman roosting aw ay at th e
start of th e first 250cc moto, with McDonald
in ho t p ursu it, As the two ' riders cleared the
big double for the first ti me , McDon a ld too k
a slim lead a nd then stuffed Bol eman in the
u pco min g turn . Mean while, Sco tt Fraser was
charging th rough th e pa ck after a less-than perfect start. Fraser used a hot li ne through
· th e rock ers on th e th ird la p to pass Matt
Talbo tt and Ahr en Ait ch ison for fourth . By
th e next lap, Fra ser had dosed o n Butch
Sa ntos in third and again mad e his pass in
th e roc kers. As th e laps wore down , McDonald
extend ed h is lead. In the end, it was McDonald
tak in g the win from Boleman a nd Fraser .
When th e ga te d ro p ped for the start of the
second mota, it was Novice rider Rick Benson
lead in g t he pack through th e fir st turn
followed by Bol eman an d McDonal d. As th is
trio launch ed over th e doubles, Bol eman and
McDon ald fou nd their way pa st Ben so n. Once
clear , Bol eman began to put some d istance
o n McDonald. McDonald, however, was not
willing to surren der the overa ll a nd was able
to clo se in o n Boleman and pas s him o n the
back stra ight. As th e riders entered the stadi u m
o n th e third lap, it was obv io us th at Bolem an
was suf£eri ng mech anical difficulties. He was
passed by both Fraser and Sa ntos before fina lly
withdrawing from th e race. With Bo lem an
o ut, the re la tive po sitions rem a ined
un ch anged to the finish. McDon ald record ed
his second win for the overa ll ahead of Fra ser
and Sa n tos.

Na than Ramsey scored the overall victory, via
3 ~ 1 more fini shes, in the 125cc Novice class
at Mo ntrose Mo tor Sports Park .
In the first mot a Will ia m Dav is took th e
holeshot ahead of Ram sey, but soon after
Chad Leigh took co mmand and move d in to
th e lead . Leigh set sail and moved out to a
co mfo rta ble lead. Ramsey was his closest
com pe tito r. Kevin Simpson moved. to third,
Duan e Flinchum to fourth and Ken n y Curran
to fifth . Leigh lost hi s lead when he too k a .
fall and had to relinquish his lead to Simpson .
Ram sey fell , but he was abl e to ho ld on to
hi s third pl ace. Leigh overpowered Ra msey
a nd too k o ver second , th en he mo ved. past
Simmo ns and retook the lead. At the fini sh ,
it was Leigh, Simpson, Ra msey a nd Cu rran.
In th e second mo to , L eigh , R a m sey ,
Simpso n and J un ior Creech were first orr the
line. Ra msey too k over th e lead mo ving
Sim pso n to second. Garret Coble too k over
third, as Randy Hardi s mo ved in to ta ke
fourth. Ramsey stretc hed ou t his lead , as

At the flag, it was Ramsey. Sim pso n, Cobl e
and Curran, wit h the overall goi ng to Ramsey.

th e Plus 25 class , but Parri sh moved up to

lead over Wes Beckman. Near th e ha lfway
point in the race Beckman go t a great dri ve

past McCarth y on th e insid e goi ng int o tum
three. Beckma n led to the finis h , with
McCarthy sett ling for seco nd ah ead of Gr eg

Honda -mo un ted Scott Moore mast ered the 125
an d 250cc classes by winni ng three ou t of Ioun
motos a t Hillbilly Hills MX.
In th e first mot o 28 riders head ed for the
firs t tum with Brian Burnett ge tti ng there first
closel y followed by Moo re, PJ Howell and
Brad Simpson. Sim pson passed Howell on the
fir st lap wh ile Burnett fou ght hard to hold
orr Moore for three and a half laps wh en Moor e
cru ised through th e wh oops for th e pass and
lead . On the last lap Sim pso n and Howell
moved pa st Burnett, droppin g him back to
fourt h wi th Justin Bow en commg in fifth .
Moto two saw Moo re gra b th e ho leshot wit h
Burnett in tow a lo ng with Bow en and
Sim pson . As Simpson was making a pa ss on
Bow en o n lap th ree, Burn ett was a lso mak in g
a move on Moor e for th e lead. By the ch eckered
flag Burnell too k fir st . but had to sett le for
ru n ne~-u p overa ll honor s with his 4-1 scorer
Moore's 1-2 scores gave him th e overa ll win_
