H o wever , J aso n Dahners was the first ridez to the punch barrels with a mi nute lead. "I was having arm pump-up and just cou ldn't ho ld him oil," said Drafs, J ell Odem arrived behind Dra fs, with Jell Barlow and Sco tt McLaughlin rounding o u t th e top five. Riding his Redwood City·backed .C R25~ Honda an~ leadin!; a ll seven laps, SIlvestrI beat Out Enc Mashbu by o ne minute and 40 seconds. Only Mashbir and MXer Larry Coleman pl ayed close , a ltho ug h Brad Halcomb kept his Suzuki with in ra nge, should an ybod y falter. The 24· year -old rider sewed up th e Distri ct Blue Plat e lhe week prior and j ust added some fine frosting over the 10.2·mile course that was well laid o u t, albeit dusty from the four years of drought in th e area. Dan Reger was seco nd th rough th e home ch eck at the end of th e first lap th at saw Silvestri lead out of camp by a few yards and th en ex tend the lead to o ver .a minute. Brad H alcomb had third ov erall over Co lema n, with Mashbir in close tow for filth. Eri c Schaffez led th e Vet Experts in sixt h , with Tom Barbezo righ t behind and Sea n Lollar ninth. Bill Maxi m ro unded o u t th e top 10. Silvestri's seco nd lap too k nearly 23 mi n utes with the same adva ntage - one min ute a nd 10 seconds - but this time o ver Coleman, with Mashbir another min u te behi nd , th en H al comb some 35 second s more and Regez back to fifth . Pit stops were ha ppening and it was a stra nge sig ht 10 see Vet Expert Tom Barbezo in th e p its, whil e Bill MaXIm wa ited o n the course right outside, (or his return someth ing about letting somebody else lead . besides th e o lder guy. Ed Haymo nd was brou ght back to camp a fter crashi ng a nd then find ing o ut that the radi ator on hi s Yamaha had a leak , and it seized. Co leman cam e th ro ugh th e chec k first for what was to be the start of lap five, but headed for th e pi ts with a fia t fron t. He returned qu ickl y, but just for fun , as h is green SCOO I was sudden ly red. Silvestri went by wit h the same lead , again, over Mash bir and Halcomb. Sil vestri go t o ut of camp for the seventh lap with Mashbir abo ut a mi n ute a nd a ha lf in arrears and then n in e m in u tes un til Holcomb came by over Co leman and 125« A class winnez Mark Myezs. Barbero kept up the pace for firs t Vet over Maxi m . as the o nly ol hers to mak e seven laps. Shaffez came to the home chec k wit h about 20 seco nds before th e two and a hall hour, an d took second Vet A in fro nt of Chris Riddle. Edd ie Edgyed was second to Maxim in the Senior A division wit h Pete Francin i dosi ng uJ;> o n poin ts leader Haymond, with o nly the Li lli p utian even t lelt o n the 1990 calendar. Curt Wil cox won the O pen A wi th ease , hav in g run six th overall o n th e first lap, fourth on th e third lap and th en had eno ug h troubles to mi ss th e seven th go· 'ro und. Dave Dye won th e second race , a two- ho ur meet for all C ridezs, but no t until Kevin Felkins, last year·s winner, went ou t with tire problem s. Felk ins led th e seco nd and th ird laps with relative ease, but Dye came up quick wh en th e problems developed and he won o vez Ala n Kludj ian a nd Todd Kuk sa , with Den n y Dritzer number one in th e 250cc C class over Dave F1ashbergez and Matt Wallace.
